  • Had a bootfull this weekend

A small play on words.....On Saturday had my son's 1st birthday. Carried 3 large fridges, crap load on presents, BBQ gear, nappy bag and other baby stuff, etc and boot swallowed it all with ease - seats up, I did remove the boot cover thingy to give more vertical room.

Then on Sunday parents decided to buy an 42" LCD (bloody large one as the stand is raised well above normal so height as well as the width was a concern. Fortunately it fitted with relative ease. They then decided to buy a amplifier and surround sound speaker package again ended up in my boot along with the TV.

This weekend completely validated my choice to go the wagon on pracicality (always prefered the look).

For anyone tossing up between the 2 think no more wagon is only way to go!

I could not get a 42" Panasonic plasma (in it's box) in the boot of my hatch with the seats down but it fitted fine across the back seat.

I look forward to cricket season. I carry around 2 team kitbags, a medium sized esky, umbrellas, cones, my own kitbag and all sorts of bibs and bobs.... and it was a seats down, and crap on the front seat type arrangement in the Fiesta

Actually - now I'm thinking about it, does anyone know where you can get one of those flip out rubber mats that goes over the lip of the hatch and rear bumper? You see them on taxi's all the time and they stop you from scratching the lip up with bags. (after a day of cricket in 40 degree heat I really don't care *how* the bags get into the car...)

LCD's generally come in smaller packaging. I had the same problem with my plasma. Ended up just unboxing it at the store.

We managed to get a baby car seat, pram, cot (flat packed) & mattress, bassinet (flat packed) & change table (flat packed) into the back of the wagon with the seats down - very impressive boot space!

yes this was display model so no box, though had a sizeable frame unlike newer LCD/LEDs

I had a bootful of crap and four people for a weekend away and my RS handled it perfectly! My dad owns/runs a company in an industry where cartons are to be delivered, and you can fit at least 60 tea-chest boxes in there with no modifications to the boot. very impressive. A 50" LED Samsung TV went in without fuss too (although I did take out the seat cushions to make it a properly flat angle and put the cushions next to the TV to make sure it didn't move about too much - shame that the Samsung score a gift promotion was so much less welcoming).

That's why I love the Skoda range so much, they incorporate so much practicality!

Hmm I didn't know the seat cushions come out? In our 6 they move forward to make it flat, and I know the Superb they flip forward, but didn't know they come right out...

You can also fit a mountain buggy double pram (which are huge) in the back of the RS wagon and close the blind too. Totally awesome. Cheers

Do you mean the chrome boot strip? I was thinking more of a rubber flap - check out number 2 on page 17. But the ones I've seen are a heavy rubber that flips over before you put anything into the boot.

The very reason I bought the RS Wagon again when I came to Oz.

Had one and before that a couple of MKV Gtis in the UK.

You can have a Gti and one kid and still go away on trips but with two young kids it is a bit of a squeeze. No such worries with the RS wagon - I have never managed to fill the boot!

Anyone with a Gti who lover it and is only getting rid of it due to space needs an RS wagon. 8/10th GTI with all the space you need.

Skoda Australia should market the rs in that way.

The catalogue has changed since I posted the link (been updated) . The product I meant was

                          Rear bumper cover foil
                          for Octavia (KDX 610 001);
for Octavia Combi (KDX 620 001)

It's now on page 19 (as printed on the paper catalogue, bottom right of the screen)

I asked about this already, and Skoda Au has not made it available for Australia as yet. I actually asked about a lot of the accessories, and most were not available, including a second bag hook for the liftback.

This was just after I got my car in May. I'm hoping that this has change...

AFIAK the second hook is just the first one turned 180 degrees.
if Skoda Australia won't play ball NZ is far away and mail in inexpenive or there is always the UK which is cheaper but shipping costs may be higher.
