Two of my work collegues have bought new Honda Accord Euros in the last couple of years, 1 sold the other looking to off load. Both complain of the same problem, gutless unless you rev it to 5k rpm. Other than that they are a nice car, if you re over 50.

I went the Mazda 6 hatch for that reason, they put all the power and torque down low for every day use, Honda put it where most people won't ever wander. Lack of fhe hatch was the deal breaker there as well, the boot plain sucks, two of my workmates complain about it all the time, not sure why though, when they were looking to buy I told them to make sure the boot fitted what it was supposed to.

I've got a mid 2006 6, I went the RS last time over the just released 6, as it wasn't much different, and what was different I didn't like.
The old steering controls were spot on, the little joystick thing drove me mental in a Mazda 3 hire car recently...and the way everything has been separated out display wise was nuts.

One of the woman at work had hers badly damaged in the hail in March (to the point where it needs a new roof skin). She found out today that the panels have not left Japan yet and they have been on order for over 9 weeks.

My new Euro replaced my very much loved 2007 Jetta, which was written off by the hail,so thats a sore point for me...
The bonnet and boot were easy to replace, but Allianz reckoned the roof needed to be replaced too,and was going to be too much trouble and expensive for them to do,so paid me out,and put it on auction to save themselves lots of trouble.
My car was resold today by Pickles in Melbourne...

I'd add that Honda have had about 40 yrs longer in Australia too
I have a Mazda 6, by the sales logic, people trust and love it more than Euros as they sell 1000's every month? Don't get me wrong I like Hondas as well, but sales figures don't mean much. I personally think and would take a Euro or a 6 over a Jetta anyday, except for maybe the 147 but even then the made in Mexico gives me shudders....but throw an RS Octavia in the mix, or the Superb and the game has changed. I'm glad it has, Mazda are getting lazy...

Even the Honda faithful agree. My brother is a very hard-core member of OzHonda.com (a forum like this), has had and modified Civics for years, more to the point he knows any Honda/Acura engine backwards and can tell you where to find parts for it, and he will modify it for you. But, he sold his highly modified Civic and bought a new Renaultsport Megane 225 Cup. New Type Rs are just too expensive, have too little space and have no torque unless you rev them. He preferred the low-end torque anyway.
So what you're saying Anthony is that, you were prepared to spend your money at Skoda after looking and test driving them. You know all about how they work and how reliable they are because you had a Jetta before hand, and yet you went and bought a common-as-anything Accord Euro and then you try and justify that as a better choice than an Octavia. Maybe in ownership and when you come to sell it, but the car itself is definitely not...Mine: Silver 2006 Volkswagen Golf Sportline 2.0FSI 6M (with a sunroof)
