I was more annoyed last Friday as police were out everywhere on my way to Geelong, people were getting pulled over every 10min and there are also fixed speed cameras, I had my CC set to what usually is around 100km/hr, and then when I went through the speedo check, it said it was doing 102. I had it set slightly higher than on the way there, although I really think the speedo check was out as normally it would read lower.
I was then wondering how many fixed speed cameras I had gone through on the way triggering them......that is one thing I detest about them, if you rely on something thats not accurate, with police with radars at least you either get fined once and then know, or get a warning. With fixed speed cameras, you can get done multiple times in one stretch of road for doing 3km/hr over......and be none the wiser of the problem.

Its a bit OT. But I don't find much of anything accurate. My speedo has always been slightly under (or massively under in some cars), the "this is how fast you are going" devices on the freeways and roadworks never match my speedo, and I've had two different GPS units that were very close to each other when I ran them together, but didn't match the speedo, nor to the speed warnings. How they can fine people and potentially ruin their lives for being 3k/s over in some states is frankly a joke.Originally posted by woofy View PostI was then wondering how many fixed speed cameras I had gone through on the way triggering them......that is one thing I detest about them, if you rely on something thats not accurate, with police with radars at least you either get fined once and then know, or get a warning. And I've only been done for speeding twice. And I was hauling arse, so no bad feelings on my part.

I think thats the whole crux, if I was doing 10 or maybe even 5km/hr over, I'd cop the fine. But it sucks when you can be done just by speedo error, or in some cases just by lapsing concentration (or concentrating on something else like trucks etc), it doesn't take much to hit 103 when you are doing 100.

The corner light works by turning the fog light on the inside of the corner on. Find a dark road at night and drive slowly down it with the lights on low beam. Turn the wheel to the right whilst looking at the road to the right front of the car. If you have cornering lights you will see it come on. I'm not sure what function the bulbson top of the headlights have, none as far as I can tellOriginally posted by H8T0W8 View PostKiwi,
My model came with xenon and fog lights, there is an additional bulb in with the fog light assembly, is this the "cornor Light"? if so i havent seen them working...

Or you can just leave it in Park, turn your engine and lights on and then turn the wheel. You can jump out and check your foglights. If cornering fogs are optioned or activated, one of the fogs will be on. Turning it the other way will turn the other fog on...Originally posted by K1W1 View PostThe corner light works by turning the fog light on the inside of the corner on. On the VRS with LEDs, the top bulbs have no effect. It's just a standard fitment for all Octavias. Without the LED strip, those are the park lights. It was very nice of them to put blue vision W5Ws in there on the VRS, but it doesn't do anything. I actually pulled them out and used them in my liftback boot. (Same bulbs)

I did actually think of that after I posted but I was sitting in the common room at my daughters school posting from my phone so it was too hard to go back and edit.. Thanks for pointing it out. I suspect that the corner lights could probably be turned on for free by somebody using a VAGCOM or whatever it's called. I just ordered them as a novelty because the S3 doesn't have them.Originally posted by dodgey View PostOr you can just leave it in Park, turn your engine and lights on and then turn the wheel. That's what I did. I didn't order them, but was playing around with my VCDS and worked out how to turn them on....Originally posted by K1W1 View PostI suspect that the corner lights could probably be turned on for free by somebody using a VAGCOM or whatever it's called. I think it is a similar thing with the alarm too...
