I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question:

I have finished my first 20L drum of Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 and is due to buy the next drum.

Does anyone know where in Melbourne that sell cheap 20L drum for this oil?

    Thanks.

I have finally got the tech sheet for the SLX OE, and it meets

      VW Audi 502 00/505 00/505 01

So am I missing something, or is the dealer doing the shonky and putting in an oil not meeting the specifications?

They should be using the SLX longlife powerflow...http://www.tds.castrol.com.au/pdf%5C...90_2007_03.pdf

MY10 RS TDI had a "Skoda recommends Shell products" sticker just under the bonnet, so I'm using VW507 spec Shell Helix Ultra Extra. costs between $75-85 per 5L bottle depending on where you shop. Oil filters you can buy for $18 each

I assume you have a petrol engine Woofy? If so, 502.00 is fine for 15,000km change intervals. What are they charging for it - that would be more concerning. Cheapest 502.00 is Castrol Edge Sport 5w-30 on special at Supercheap for ~$30. As dazag says, the Shell 504.00/507.00 stuff is ~$80, sometimes as low as $65 on sale, so if they are charging around that price for 502.00 then maybe you can do better by supplying your own oil? Except when i supplied 5L, they used 4L & didn't give me back the leftovers.

My dealer uses Valvoline 502.00/507.00 (no idea if Valvoline have paid to have it certified or not) & charges $75 which I think is reasonable.

I got hit $100 for the oil, at the time I assumed it was the 507.00 grade, but when I needed to buy some topup went to check the work sheet and sure enough it wasn't the SLX LIII but rather the SLX OE. I bought 5L of the Penrite Enviro plus which is approved by VW for 507.00 for $60 recently, so not really happy about the ripoff pricing.

Dazag they all have that sticker about using Shell, I think that is the oil in them from the factory.

This is what I based my oil purchase on as well-my 07 model has the same sticker. Mine wont go service to service without a top up at about 12000km. It's just coming up for it's 60000 service now so should be well and truly bedded in-I guess it's just a TFSI thing.

I've replaced my old oil page with a new one, no need to open pdf's anymore but searchable and sortable tables make it easier to find oils. Up to date as at last night with Volkswagen's data.
