  • Kudos for Bayford Skoda

I have been accused of being a dealer hater both privately an publicly on this forum which is actually 100% opposite from the truth.

I'd just like to say how good it is for Bayford Skoda to be back here in a professional way supplying factual and relevant information in a concise way. The gossip and speculation is for us owners to indulge in but having a dealer supply accurate information about the product is terrific and will be very helpful to many I'm sure.

Not any more it appears. While attempting to organise my first oil change at Bayford, I am advised that they are not taking service bookings past next Wednesday. Something has happened between Bayford and Skoda Australia over mutual expectations and it seems the relationship is ending in a hurry. I'm told that letters are going out to customers imminently. Anyone else have any insights into this?

It's a pity that the sevice dept at Preston don't live up to the standard of the sales department.
Heath was good but it was all downhill from there for me. The news from SkodaK is disturbing, what happens to my lease servicing now?
I've heard the Richmond dealership is less than good. Damn damn damn, a good car let down by the public interface, or am I prematurely pessimistic?

Richmond should be fine, I've not had issues with the service dept there, just the good sales person they had left. I;ve noticed an ever increasing amount of brand new Skodas at VW Camberwell.....so wonder if they are moving..or its part of the shutdown of Bayford Skoda.

I had a call from the Bayford Skoda service department as I had been waiting on a warranty part replacement, but was advised that the dealership was closing at the end of the month and the part would not arrive by then for them to replace. Apparently there is a new Skoda dealer opening in Essendon shortly which was mentioned as an alternative for future servicing. Richmond is closer for me so I will likely go there.

I did notice during my last service (26th May) that there were almost no Skodas in the yard apart from a couple near the front and obviously in the show room. I was given a Kia courtesy vehicle as there were no Skodas.

Yeah there is a new Essondon one and one at Franskton......the cars I keep seeing delivered at VW here in Hawthorn are all new, but tehy have taken over the neighbouring former Mitre 10 site so it might just be a holding yard, although if they are closing, why hold them here.....I think something is afoot...still holding out for Penfolds in Burwood to start a dealership, they could do the Richmond trick and combine it with their new Audi centre there.

Second that! I bought my car from Bayford and the service dept was quite good. Tried to book a warranty check-up today, but got re-directed to Richmond. Now I read all theese reviews... Plus it's a pain getting there through the traffic.

When you live out in the far eastern suburbs, any current Skoda dealer is too far away. I just want my mid-service interval oil change and filter before a quick dash to Qld for the school holidays, so I rang Burwins VW to book the car in, they said we'll call you back - and never did! Then I got onto Melbourne Performance Centre down the road in Bayswater who seem quite switched on, nice clean premises stuffed with fat Porsches, Audis, the odd Golf and even an Octavia in the driveway. They'll do the oil for me while I wait, does anybody have any experience with MPC?

Skoda would have the demographics of where everyone lives and there seems to be a few out in the SE. Richmond was an odd placement but they were aiming to get both city people and us.

With Bayford Motors relinquishing their Skoda franchise, is it funny that Skoda Australia (aka VW Australia) have now open up a new dealers franchise 1 Block away from the Bayford VW Epping dealership.
