Every time a car with automatic on/off zenons is started indoors such as a garage, the zenon lights come on until the car is backed out into daylight. My question is does this wear them out prematurely?

While very frequent switching on and off will reduce the eventual life of HID globes, it is unlikely to be a problem for most owners (and good quality globes are available for reasonable prices these days as long as you are prepared to shop around a bit).2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).
