Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Octavia cornering fogs

I am aware of the cornering fogs option for FL Octavia's.
Looking at mine there is a second globe outboard of the main fog.
    Why would this be?
Pretty sure I don't have the cornering fogs
Is it something that can be enabled with VAG COM as I have the globes
    already there.

From what I have read on Briskoda the cornering function can be enabled using a VAG COM so I guess that the hardware must actually be there.

In terms of their use I don't really see any advantage to them. I've stopped even noticing whether they come on or not. If you were somewhere where it was pitch black or maybe in very heavy fog they might have a use. I've used them in fog at home (around 20-30m vis) and the extra illumination on the drivers side is noticeable but not really useful and on the passengers side I can't see any difference.

      Thanks for the info.
I have seen them in action and thought their effectiveness debatable.

However, I hate it when car companies deny you of a feature that is there on the car.
      knowwhatimean.......

What is the best VAGCOM to get?

Or in the case of Skoda sell "optional extras" that are already fitted and simply turned on or off with a couple of key presses.

....exactly, though Skoda are not the only ones.
