  • Eibach springs

Got a quote from UK for Eibach Pro springs £230.23 delivered (4-6 working days). There shouldn't be any GST or other taxes, right?

Seems like a good price to me, about AU$350 compared to local price of $600 or $950 installed.

I'm going to ring around but approx how much should installation cost? Need to allow for 2 alignments as well.

Anyone recommend a place in Melbourne?

    Cheers

Customs don't generally collect GST or taxes unless the amount to be collected is $100 or greater which means that the value of the goods has to be Aus$1000.00 or greater. That doesn't mean that they can't or that GST is not payable it just means that it's unlikely to happen. They say the admin costs outweigh the collection amount if it's less than $100.

You may want to get a hold of graybags as I think he got a cheaper quote from somewhere in Europe. Anyway, if a group buy is a possibility I'd be in.

        I'd be interested too.
They only problem with a group buy puts the value up and into customs attention doesn't it?

Yes it would but discounts in item cost, freight and possibly installation if somebody did several cars may outweigh additional cots of GST. Somebody would need to do the maths.

I've PMd Graybags to see what he was quoted.

At very least if we round up 3-5 cars we could save on installation even if springs are bought separately.

            Any definites?

This is the reply I received for Pro-Kit E10-79-004-04-22
"We would like to quote you those springs for 159,00 Euro + 49,00 Euro shipping.
Yes, those springs are suitable for your car. It’s a Variant, right? (Wagon)"

              =$250aud + $77aud
              "Dear Graham,

the price is for air shipping but it’s not an express service
Deutsche Post is collecting all shipment to Australia and then sent out the airplane.
Express shipments get flight on the same day.

Let work something out if you got more guys who are interested in."

I haven't inquired about fitting yet.

                Yeah I'll be in.
Where were you thinking of install?
                TruTrack?

I've been looking around for BBS RS style wheels too.
Anyone know of any in 5 x 112?

I just realised I was converting pounds when should have been Euro. Nonetheless that's the cheapest shipping and overall cost I've seen. Is this Door to Door or need to pick up from airport?

No worries driving to airport but I read somewhere about a guy getting stung for some type of release/admin fee when picking up goods from airport.

You would probably have to pay a Customs agent to get the packages cleared through Customs. Most freight companies can do it in house but they often charge a fee.

                      Customs clearance

Don't pay an agent ... do it yourself ... I have imported about 10 bikes all worth over the 1K limit over the years (keen cyclist) and just filled out the paperwork myself. It just takes a little while and you can save a wedge.

When all else fails you just be REALLY polite and the customs officers (either phone or in person) usually tell you what to write if you don't know.

It looks scary and customs agents tell you it is however unless what you are importing is tricky (and just springs won't be) it is actally pretty simple. Ya just have to be patient!!

If Deutsche Post is the normal postal service then the package will be delivered to your address by the regular Australia Post packages delivery van. I buy lots of stuff from overseas (nothing over $AU 500.00), and so far I've never had to dealing with Customs (Quarantine have opened a couple of packages to have a look)

That shipping cost looks a bit cheap to me, you might want to double check that it is really airmail. I had a headlight that was "accidentally" sent via surface mail from the UK, it took over 6 months to get here

                              Cheers,
I have considered some of the Audi look wheels to keep the VAG look.
S5 style is nice and understated.

This place is just around the corner from work.
                              Forgot about them....thanks
