Congratulations Kerzoo, my grand father moved out here from Glasgow so i am aware of how much beautiful landscape and driving roads you have access to in Scotland so don't keep it in the city and make sure you strectch its legs every now and then. It is a beautiful car and i hope it serves you well for years to come.

Have a look on here and UK sites for modifications if you think you may want to bring torque and BHP up a bit, most of it can be as simple as s software upgrade.

    All the best

Correct me if I'm wrong, but increasing torque and BHP with a "simple...software upgrade" would void the new car warranty?

I'd love to do this but doesn't warranty come into play...
Do you mention this to your aussie customers as they take the keys or does Mentone Skoda have a different view regarding warranties...maybe I should of placed my order further south

Bluefin supplementary warranty gives you complete peace of mind by covering the parts deemed to be excluded from the manufacturer's warranty.

Gents, as you will read our friend is in Scotland and this is where the car was purchased, the UK is very open to mods being done. I have been told by our UK expats that most VW, Audi and Skoda dealers have a separate division at the dealerships for mods if not offer it at time of purchase. Whether this is true or not i really couldn't care and it is something for my celtic friend to explore.

As for Australia it is a completely different ball game and you should only ever follow the instructions of the importer (Volkswagen Group Australia) in relation to modifications to avoid voiding your warranty. I would highly suggest ignoring any advice given by a sales consultant who does not represent anyone other than himself (not Mentone Skoda nor Skoda Australia) on in this forum

Chris, I am really hoping I don't come off sounding like a smarta$$, but given that it is an Australian forum, and given that you have decided to choose a name that does represent your company, it comes across as strange that you say you only represent yourself and to ignore your advice.

I only say this as many of us have been very pleased with your professional advice and assistance in times when it was lacking elsewhere and I speak for myself in saying that I appreciate your input on the forum as a dealer. Therefore I guess clarification may be necessary when talking about mods that may affect our investments.

You wont get hate mail because you are right, i had a slightly delusional idea that i could try and build some bonds with people who share a strong appreciation of the Skoda and VW product as i do. I thought by being open as a dealer then there would be no confusion as to my stance and where i am coming from but this is not fantasia and i can see how i have tried to have my cake and eat it to.

Expect that any posts (if any) in the future will be 'toeing' the company line

                  Thank you for the reply.
Absolutely will be utilising some of the fantastic roads around the West coast of Scotland and also some of the great drives around Loch Ness/Perthshire etc

I am a salesman so will be putting a few miles on it over the next wee while.
Some of my customers are in beautiful parts of Scotland (along the whiskey trails in Aviemore etc) so i am quite lucky in that respect.

As for mods here- some, not all, keep the warranty intact but if it is not a Skoda approved install then forget it.
I have spoken to one- Angel tuning- and they could get an extra 40bhp and it up to 450nmtr of torque but as this would affect my insurance i think i will leave it as standard
As the weather here has just turned from arctic(the whole of December, 3 feet of snow) to just baltic i can at least go out without risk of sliding into every ditch/bus/parked car.............

Would love to be in your shoes over in Oz so i could really detail the car to last.
                  Cheers

I think I speak for us all in saying that your belief in the brand and interest in strengthening the Skoda Dealer/Customer relationship is a welcome addition to this forum. I for one am not questioning your commitment to Skoda; what other dealer/sales consultant is posting replys on this forum on a Sunday?

I have found you most professional in my dealings with you and I certainly did not want you to abandon the forum.

My concern is that I know you as Chris, and when I read your posts, they are from Chris. But your log on name is generic for the dealership you represent and that therefore carries a level of weight/responsibility with it. I cruised this forum and many others for months as I researched Skoda and what their owners had to say about them. If I come to the forum and read a post that is from a dealer, then you have to realise that that carries a level of higher truth/status than from any of us punters.

My concern is if some person comes to the forum and reads that post about modding the car with a software upgrade, and it's written from a dealer (we know it's Chris but others don't), then that is possibly misleading unless it is also posted with the comments you included later RE: the warranty status potentially being voided if it is done.

If you want to paticipate in dialogue re: modding the cars, just use another alias, you can still be known to us as Chris, and then Guests and others using the forum won't have an avenue to persue you for providing conflicting info.

I'll be picking up my car soon, and hope that I will have an enjoyable Skoda experience, and providing the product remains as good as it is currently, I look forward to buying my next car from you.

Hope to see you posting again here soon.

Just for the sake of clarity I did make a post earlier in this thread that I subsequently deleted.
The basis of my post was to agree with Backdoc and to point out again that sales@mentone was placing himself in a compromised position with some of his posts.
Now for the record. I have no problems at all with car dealers being members of this forum or any other forum. What I have a problem with is dealers who act in an unprofessional way or who place themselves in positions where they appear to be at odds with the organisation that pays their wages.

If we are going to be pedantic I might just hop on the bandwagon here.......

AFAIK Skoda Oz do NOT own any dealerships in Oz, they are all independent franchises who buy cars from the importer (Skoda Oz) and then resell them to us, the retail customers. So in fact WE pay the wages (and sales commisions) at dealers via the purchase price we pay for our cars

You blokes need to relax a little, didn't he say that the bloke was in the UK and didn't the bloke respond and confirm that the UK have approved modifications centres for the factory?? I don't see what he said as conflicting at all, in fact if the 'conusltant' (and i use the description loosely) i had dealt with out west had been like this bloke and less cagey i wouldn't of had to such a teeth pulling experience

What is the go with upgrading power output here in Australia? I see a lot of moderators on here talking about it all the time, i just assumed it wasn't an issue, given the belting you have given this bloke looks like it might be.

                          Does it void your warranty?

Yes it does void your warranty, but I am interested by your comments about giving him a "belting". I don't think anywhere in my post I was disrespectful or suggesting that his views weren't welcome in the forum.

ok guys im not a skoda owner but i do have a fairly heavily modified polo and honestly it really does depend on your attitude when going to the dealer with a problem on a modifed car and wether they cover it under warranty. E.G I have a Front mount intercooler and the radiator started leaking I honestly thought not a chance of getting it under warranty but asked nicely and what do you know they did it.

In regards to dealers in Australia and chips Austral themselves sorted out me getting my car flashed with APR so i think that says enough on what they really think about software upgrades
