  • Post ONLY Your Fuel Economy Figures

    Hi All,

Thought I'd start a new thread for people to post their fuel economy figures for their Skodas, especially to see what the differences are between the diesels and petrols. Might also help prospective buyers who are trying to choose between the two fuel options.

I'm getting about 9.5-10.0 in the RS Petrol Wagon with DSG around the city, and have managed so far to get as low as 6.9 on a country freeway run.

Im getting 5.7l per 100klms out of our FL RS TDI DSG Wagon demo.

I drive from Endeavour Hills to Preston which is about 100klms round trip daily plus test drive's plus my driving around after work.

Pretty much unbeatable for the type of car and the performance you get from it.

Only done a little under 4000km's on the new FL RS TDI wagon and getting around the 6.1/100km comparitive according to the MFD, am yet to confirm with actual calculations. It's getting better as I get more K's on it, and I'm not driving it easy. I've been running just normal BP or Shell diesel, but have just put in a tank of the new Caltex Vortex premium diesel, will see how that stuff goes. Looking forward to when BP finally bring the Ultimate diesel to NSW.

            Petrol FL vRS Manual Combi:

I'm getting high 8's / low 9's in normal driving city driving. If i give some curry, well that blows out the window.

On the highway it can go down to high 6's low 7's.

I haven't had my TDI long enough to worry about and Christmas driving is hardly typical but for the distance travelled I have saved around $20 in fuel compared to my previous car so that will amount to something like $1200 - $1500 per year. Free servicing, reg and insurance to put it another way.

2007 Elegance wagon 2TDI manual with 22k on the clock & Oettinger reflash

Best - 5.4 highway driving "unloaded" including 2 baby seats, pram and stuff for the baby and toddler

Worst - 7.2 "city" driving with the above standard stuff (well, atleast as "city" as Canberra gets )

Car fully loaded with roof pod for family trips away still returns between 6.5 (best) and 6.8 (worst).

Love that TDI economy and torque

lol.....thats the spirit. The diesel guys don't go to the race track. They are to busy with the calculators figuring out how to save another 5c

(said in tongue and cheek......don't mean to offend people like my dad who also bought a vRS.....only the diesel version )

Ha ha ha, us "oilers" arent scared of the track, in fact I'd love to bring the RS for a spin just to compare. And from what i believe the TDI's have some real potential with "tuning options" at relatively cheap cost. Have been doing a little research and reading in the "diesel" forum on here and you guys might be a little shocked.
DPF Delete (with asscoiated ECU re-map) plus small exhaust upgrade and the Oiler RS becomes more efficient and steps it up in the KW / Torque department. In saying that, does anyone know if the DSG gearbox is torque limited/rated. I know it's good for 350nm, but I think I've heard it can handle up to 650nm??
Anyway, the Beauty is if we did go to the track, at least we wouldn't have to refuel to drive home, ha ha ha.

Consumption - 1.9 TDi PD manual

I have averaged 5.0 l, according to trip comp for last cca 4000km. Measured consumption manually myself once and the trip comp appears to be underestimating it, but not much (cca 5%).

The best: 3.8 l for a 30km trip along the West Coast Hwy.

The worst: a friend of mine borrowed it, she is a petrol driver and averaged 7.5 l.

Usually between 4.5 and 5.5 l around town. It takes more on freeway: 120 kph with aircon is less than 6 l but not by much.

                          1.8tsi M6 hatch

long term (37,000km) average (calculated) 6.7L/100km.

                          Since Bluefin remap: ~7.0L/100km

Trip today Sydney-Ulladulla 200km 4 people/luggage 6.2 (mfd); return 2 people 5.3 (mfd) including numerous visits to $1.40. MFD is about 0.2 wrong.

2008 Octavia RS TSI Manual Liftback

Trip upto Urunga (25km south of Coffs Harbour) and back (500km one-way) and on the trip up my Vladimir (what my dad calls the RS - he thinks it's a Czech name :L) used approx 29 litres to travel 500km and on the way back it was pretty much the same. 4 people, a boot FULL of luggage and a cat and that equates to 5.8L/100km and the trip gage even went upto 770km at one stage (on top of 174km already travelled on the tank...bit optimistic if I'm honest) so I'm very happy, especially for what the RS can do

Over the life of the car I'd say it's done an average of around 10-11L/100km in mostly city/sporty driving, which is actually 1L/100km less than my old MY00 Subaru Liberty (which had 92kW and 184Nm...)

Third fill of diesel today. vRS manual.

                              709km
                              47.1 L
                              = 6.6 l / 100km

More like normal driving for me with a mix of Freeway and outer suburban. Total distance on the car at the time of fill was only 2030km and the fuel consumption seems to be reducing a little on each fill. Seeing as I get around 5.8l/100km from my motorcycle and that doesn't have A/C, heated seats, a great stereo or a MFD to keep me amused and it only weighs around 200kg I think the consumption of the Skoda is very acceptable.
