Looked at the Golf wagon on the weekend and the Octavia today, one advantage over the Octavia wagon is that the seats fold flat and the cargo space is flat as well.
Bad points for the golf are the 1.4TSI and 103KW TDI. I'd be very interested if it came with the 125KW TDI.

The Octavia seats do fold flat, it's just that the floor itself is lower (which is a good thing because you can fit more in). The Skoda advantage is the bigger boot (by 60 litres with the seats up and alot more with them down), the more standard equipment (especially on the higher-spec models) and the RS model (no GTI wagon).

It is much better when the whole cargo area is flat. I would prefer to lose some depth to have a completely flat load area.

Skoda have a three part false boot floor available as an option that raises the floor level so it's flat when the seats are lowered. That way you get the best of both options.

I rarely lower the seats these days so the deeper floor is way more of a day to day advantage for me than a flat one would be.

From what I have read if you quote your local Skoda parts man the part number for accessories he will give you a price and you just have to wait for them to arrive.
Realistically you could probably make something to do the job fairly inexpensively using plywood and marine carpet.

I got quoted about $150 for the variable boot floor when I ordered the vRS. In the end didn't bother going with it as it just makes access to the spare a pain plus cuts down on a bit of space.

I went from a liberty wagon , flat floor , big deal, less room than the rs .

Iam in retail always moving cartons , can get more into rs , lower floor is not a problem , never bother folding seat base fwd , cause there is tons of room .

Really keen to check out the superb in wagon , more again , but the step up to $60k for the AWD 6 would be a hit , still lease has got 18 months to run , then we will see what depreciation is all about with a skoda .

Our 6 has a wider boot but shallower floor, I can get somethings in the Octy upright that I can't in the 6, but width wise I have had the odd occasion where something that fits in the 6 won't in the Skoda...then the seats go down. Also Skoda put the split in the opposite side, so if you have a baby seat on the passenger side which most ppl do, you can still use the 2/3 split and fold more down. We can only use the 1/3 in the 6.

Thats a short lease spellbound, I took out a four year hire purchase with the aim of keeping it another 3-4yrs. I wouldn't expect awesome resale prices on a brand so new yet but I guess you'll find out.

$150 is pretty good for the false floor seeing as it's a bulky item to get over here and the rubber boot mats are more than that.

I call it lease but its a 4 year asset purchase , same as yours i suppose woofy , i generally move on once the warranty ceases , after 3 usually get the payout figure , due to low ks , average 12k a year .

I had 3yrs 8mths, on the 6 but was putting extra money on it, due to a good price at the beginning and some work bonuses. Ended up paying it out early partly due to a dire need to drive something a bit more wow, the GFC meaning cars were in overstock...and also it was easier for my wife to deal with daily baby crap with a slightly bigger car....so I got the Skoda earlier than planned....the 6 still has warranty, (4yrs) would have liked 4 on the Skoda as well, but no hope on that. Might see how things are at 3yrs, but we have a house now and probably another baby by then.

The longer I leave it this time, the more $$ in tax returns and the bigger deposit next time. Paying out early doesn't give as much tax breaks I've realised and I'm on a low rate due to the GFC as well.
