Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Has anyone purchased any accessories from superskoda.com?

I'm thinking of buying the chrome side mirror covers and the eyebrow covers for the headlights.

Has anyone purchased these before or anything else?

Yes, I bought my eyebrows from them. Make sure you pay for the expensive shipping option, I didn't and they took over 6 weeks to arrive! Just a word on the eyebrows, mine have bubbled slightly. I don't know if it's due to being painted black and the aussie summer heat or the heat from the head lights themselves. What ever it is it's disappointing, because they looked pretty good apart from that.

Could you post some pics please? Not the bubbles, just to see the look of them on the car. Thanks

did you have to paint the eyebrow lids yourself? I can't find where to select the colour i want on the website

I don't know if you noticed, but I was actually trying to get rid of the chrome! (ie. painted grill surround). I even contemplated colour coding the roof rails, but decided it'd chip to easily if I ever actually used them.

You have to paint the eyebrows yourself, they come a matt black or grey colour (can't quite remember). If you've never done any car painting before, doing the eyebrows would be a good way to start. There would be no issues with blending in the colour, as they are so small and a separate "panel". They really are quite easy to paint.

Have a look at my grill surround painting thread for some tips...

The seems a really good site with a huge range of toys, but I've repeatedly tried to email them regarding some items and they seem to either be ignore it or just not check them!

Has anyone had any luck contacting superskoda recently? I've sent them two e-mails but they haven't replied.

I asked if I ordered something from them and the item was therefore sent out of Europe to Australia, shouldn't I only pay the VAT-exclusive price.

When you place something in their shopping cart (even with an Australian address), the price is always the VAT-inclusive price. It seems like VAT in the Czech Republic is 20% so it adds up. Their shipping costs are pricey so I'm looking for anything to bring the overall cost down.

So I'd also like to hear from anyone who has ordered from superskoda. If you can remember, what price did you pay? With or without VAT?

One shop in the UK said that if I ordered something from their website, they would refund the 17.5% VAT and that sounds fair.

Yeah I ordered a rear rubber liner and some wind deflectors 2 months ago. I emailed them twice and the second time they said they couldn't get them til september... So I take it they will be in Australia around November...

                        Not unusual.
Motorcycle gear from the US is unbelieveable in how much they charge for freight or even simple postage.
If you are buying through the auction site there is also the "inflate the freight to minimise the fees on the transaction" deal that goes on.
