Yes, you have to take their claims with a grain of salt. But I do find them whiter and brighter.
Also, I think that if you look at the reviews on Amazon, some people complain that they burn out too fast. But I wonder if that can be attributed to people handling the bulbs with their bare hands as they're installing them and leaving oil from their skin on the glass. I have never had any problems with them burning out but it's not like drive for hours and hours at night.
All the brighter light bulbs burn out quicker than the stock ones it's the trade off.
I put upgraded bulbs in my Land Rover (Phillips Super White or something similar) and they lasted a reasonable time but definitely not as long as the OEM ones.

As K1W1 pointed out all the bulbs with the smaller filaments burn hotter and life drops dramatically. Specifications on the link below.
yeah I've got some bright ones in our current fiesta. I've had three go in 3 years.
Is it hard to replace them in an Octavia? The fiesta is a nightmare, removing a bunch of screws, bending the bumper down and playing tetris with the headlight housing.
On my pre-FL Octy Hi beam is definitely H1, but I have the Lo beam (only) OEM HIDs. IIRC the std Lo beams are H7.
I'm confused about what headlights I have in my Octavia RS (update, not facelift).
My low beams have those thick round bulging lenses inside behind the outer covers.
They have a sharp beam cut off and a coloured fringe on the top edge of the beam pattern.
They are very different looking to normal quartz halogen lights when you are driving.
The levelling is done by a manually operated thumbwheel on the dashboard.
Are my low beams Xenons?
Ok thanks
I had a Golf Mk VI loan car about a month ago and the headlights in it were not as good and didn't have the sharply defined beam pattern that the Octavia RS has.
So it would have had normal halogen globes in normal refelectors?

Yes, the Golf has reflectors standard (except R32 and I presume R which have bi-xenon standard) and as an option bi-xenon headlights.
sorry to bring this up again, but the bulb has blown in the headlight of my FL vRS. I dont have time to ship it in from the US and would like to buy it locally as I need to drive it at night. Can anyone recommend where I can buy locally?

Luke
