If you want to see what the colour looks like Richmond Skoda had an Anthracite RS Hatch in their showroom last week.

I had the exact same problem. I wanted one but couldn't find a photo so I went with white..........safe bet.

Having said that I did then see the anthracite octy wagon (not RS) @ Richmond and it seemed like more of a slightly darker silver but not what I would've called anthracite.

yeah thats the car we seen when buying ours. We couldn't decide on silver, black or blue so we figured anthrecite is a mix of all three. Still would like a pic of a rs wagon to show people what the hell we are getting. A bit sick of having to explain to people what it looks like.

I'm a bit sick of explaining that a Skoda is not a "Scooter"!

Is anthracite the same colour as used with the Golf? When we were looking, they had a Golf in a darkish silver colour in the yard and the dealer said anthracite was like that.

My wife has said we can't have a colour the same as a previous car - no white, silver or yellow then. I don't think I want to do black, so anthracite is the safe colour, and the nice RS blue is my dream colour!

That's about right. Anthracite tends to be grey with a bit of teal blue in it for want of a better description. It's generally a lot lighter in colour than many people expect I think people associate it with really dark grey which it's not.
We had an Anthracite Porsche in the early 80's and from looking at the photos of that car I would say that the Skoda colour is fairly close to what the Porsche was. I think (hope) it will be a good colour for waterless Victoria as it should not show dirt too easily in the way black does but it's not silver like many cars seem to be these days.
FWIW I believe Anthracite is a type of coal that burns with a blue flame so I guess that's where the colour comes from.

I think you have nailed it!!
Exactly what I am thinking about the colour and why I like it.
Has anyone actually seen a fs rs wagon in the flesh?
Has anyone ordered one?? I like to be a little unique but not this much!
Was the porsche easy to keep looking clean? Not that much trouble for us as we have tank water

We were living in California at the time and washing the car was not a problem. I think the closest it got to dirt was the parking lot at Sears Point Racetrack. We did have a BMW here in Melbourne that was a darker metallic grey and that was fairly easy to keep looking clean although that was well before water restrictions as well.

I did see a blue FL RS wagon in a showroom a couple of months ago.

I'm hoping you don't think gray (medium or dark) is a "safe" colour from a visibility/road safety viewpoint ?

There are several colours that tend to blend into the road and make a car hard to see (depending on lighting, weather and bitumen/concrete colour), and darker silver, black and grey cars tend to be the hardest to see most of the time.

The vRS blue wagons look very classy, but they show light coloured "dusty rain" much more than the yellow, hence my choice. And over time I've come to really like the bright yellow, and would get that colour for my next car without any hesitation at all.

I saw a grey Skoda wagon (not vRS) a few weeks ago, and the only reason I noticed it was because I happened to pick up on the grille - it really looked quite anonymous and bland to me (but that's just my opinion, not many people share my taste).

And there was me thinking that the LED running lights on the vRS would make it stand out.

Please don't be so sensitive, politely expressed opinions are perfectly OK here, especially when they are backed up by rational reasons/justifications I did say it was my personal opinion, and that many others disagree.

Yes, they do help, but only for people directly in front of you (and you can already see them). I find it is the idiots approaching me from the side or behind that are the real danger, and I can't see whether they have seen me or not.

And the flashing lights on the wheels too ?

Seriously though, car colour is a significant factor in visibility and therefore safety.
