  • Option pricing for MY10 Octavia RS

Does anyone have or know of a listing of option prices for the MY10 Octavia RS? I'd like to know what quite a few of the factory options are worth so the wife and I can do some sums on a nice new RS.

    Cheers!

Rear wiper is for liftback only, btw. Std for the wagon.
For the wagon you can also get Privacy Glass from the B pillar onwards. I think it's around the $300.00 mark...

I thought the Leather and Xenons were around $1490.00

Awesome review on that websight http://www.discountnewcars.com.au/re...-rs-16504.aspx

Although it does say "extensive options list" that would be better with foldig mirrors and electric seats!!

I already have a quote for an optioned up Octavia, and now I'm just trying to see what the real difference is for the RS.

So, my question is: what comes standard with the RS that is only an option on other models? As far as I can tell, it is:

              - multifunction steering wheel (for the DSG anyway): $190
              - wheels (I was thinking about paying to upgrade the wheels): $1780
              - rear parking: $640

That comes to $2610. The difference in the drive away prices (for ACT) is $7700. So there is a $5000 price premium.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not objecting to pay the premium it's just that I still need to add in the towbar, MDI and maybe a few other things so I'm just interested in what the net difference between prices will be like.

Have I missed anything on that list?

If you are referring to differences between the RS and the 1.8/standard octavias then additional differences would include the following

                - heated front seats (+ different trim level on seats/sports)
                - exterior body styling
                - engine (suspension?)

                - folding mirrors (RS lacking this)

heated seats are listed as $330 on discountnewcars and sports seats $290 (though I dont know what they are like compared to the RS)

My pre-FL RS also has (as std, not extra cost options) :

                  - (partial) leather "sports" style seats (I found the std model Octy seats a bit soft and "roly poly" in corners.

                  - Metal pedal covers (with rubber inserts)

                  - Metal scuff panels on the bottom of the door openings

                  - Std alarm with motion sensors

                  - Fog lights

                  - Sports suspension (but not the same as the sports option on std Octys)

                  - different colour (Sprint Yellow) not available on std Octys.

To get a complete list of the differences you would need to compare the official spec lists from the brochures for the particular models you are interested in - these are quite long lists.

Don't forget to add on GST, stamp duty and any other taxes (eg "luxury" car tax ?) that are applicable, as dealers often forget to mention how much these add to the real on-road price of options in initial discussions.

When i bought the 1.8TSI I was trying to justify the extra $$ for the RS.

Maybe the gap has closed but at the time the RS had the following over & above the Elegance 1.8TSI spec:

                    +29kw
                    +30Nm
(but the older engine design - cambelt etc which was 98ron minimum)

18x7.5 rims with 225/40x18 Michelins (worth probably $2k+ to do something similar aftermaket).
                    lowered sports suspension
                    bigger brakes
                    more leather in the interior
                    sports seats
                    sports pedals
                    tyre pressure monitor
                    floor mats
                    siren/alarm
                    rear park distance control
                    heated front seats

Which is a fairly long list and worth the extra coin.

I'm a pragmatist and I had a long hard look at how I used the car and let the head rule the heart & bought the Elegance 1.8TSI.
I've more than compensated for the power difference & am very happy that I have what might be the ultimate sleeper.

edit: you could have worked all that out by comparing brochures. that's what i did.

Nobody seems to have mentioned the difference in the engines.
                      The Standard Octavia has a 1.6 or 1.8 TSI (118kW) or a 2.0 TDI (103kW) choice.
                      The RS has a 2.0TSI (147kW) or 2.0 TDI (125kW) engine choice.

There is a major part of the cost differences in these engines and the associated plumbing and hardware that goes with them.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I hadn't picked up on the heated seats one.

I did know about the differences in the engine spec and performance, I was more interested in the options themselves.

Like others, I may have to choose between the head and the heart. Once I add in the towbar, the price definitely starts to skyrocket.

Of course, it depends on how much of a discount the dealer is willing or able to offer as well!

If you want a real deal look for dealers with pre-FL Octys that they want to shift ASAP

Engineering/fitment difference between 1.8TSI & 2.0TSI would be bugger-all. difference in cost of production near zero. But that's normal - more power = more profit margin.

I think the RS package is good value for money.

Oh, I forgot to include in my list the visual differences - spoiler, front aesthetics, etc.
