I was going to get the wheel alignment and balancing done while I had some Michelin PS3s fitted on our 6, but ran out of time, so thought they can do it. Funny enough none of the outside weights have been changed which makes me really suspicious as to whether they were balanced at all. I can tell as the black brake dust has not been disturbed one iota. And last year when I had my Octy in for its 15k service, at the same time an S3 was there and his was double mine, which made me suspect something is really up. I think I might have another word to them, an RS shouldn't come with the same price tag as the Audi service, I'm not paying for the extra "experience" that they sell with the Audi.

The dealer service schedule appears to have no correlation with what is written in our Service Schedule books. They have a 'tick & flick" list that they apply to all models regardless of engine type.
As you stated, 2.0T toothed belt is in the book at 180,000km (no time period stated).
Also:- they appear to do brake fluid every 30,000km rather than 2 years.
- they want to change 2.0TSI & 1.8TSI spark plugs at 60,000km instead of the 90,000km in the book
- Air Filter at 45,000km instead of 90,000km
- pollen filter at 30,000km instead of 60,000km
I can understand the airfilter change as Australia does suffer from dust-plugging (we have more dust than most other countries).
I can understand the pollen filter due to our high pollen count & humidity.
Neither of the above are excessively priced at $31 for the air filiter & $15 for the pollen filter (paid $40 at the VW specialist the other day).
Wanting to do the belt every 4 years/60,000km seems OTT. I thought only Astras/Vectra had to get done that often?
Ask Skoda for a full service schedule - I bet they fob you off to the dealer & won't answer properly.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

OK $360 for the minor service, ie 15k, 45k. $560 for the major, PLUS brake fluid every 2 yrs which is another $140. Every time they added it up, it came to another number, ie technically I paid less somehow. The guy on the phone is the person I met when I first bought and have known him for quite a while. He said he quite often quotes the wrong price and gets into trouble and thinks your $460 is a stuffup he made. I think you'll find it doesn't include the brake fluid. Apparently the S3 is about $750 without the brake fluid Kiwi and about $900 for the same stuff I had done.
Around $2k for the 4 yr/60k if you get the timing belt done. Timing belt is 90k or 4 yrs whichever is sooner. They have to inspect it regardless and because its a cheap part, figure you may as well replace it by the time you are in there.
Last time I was there I was given a checklist which goes to SKoda HQ, apparently the list is twice as long for the 30k service. I can scan in the 30k one, if you want but apparently Audi don't have it, its a Skoda thing. It was much longer than the little service schedule book checklist.
Still haven't heard back from Skoda HQ, but it seems they spin a wheel for service pricing.

TSI RS, but to be honest, they charge the same price for all Octys, doesn't matter which one. He thinks he may not have mentioned the brake fluid to you, have you done 2 yrs or just 30k cause they seem to go by time rather than kms with that.

I'm at a point where I am deciding my next car for work in 2011, and between them charging too much (still would like to know what the average Gti prices are at VW) and them not really caring, I'm considering not only dropping a Superb off my list but also looking elsewhere for servicing. Really I'm at the point where someone there needs to call me, arrange a time to come to some kind of agreement as I don't owe them anything, and they only have to gain. We will most likely keep the car for at least 6 yrs, so plenty of servicing and probably a warranty extension in there yet, let alone a potential new car.

I'd prefer $2000 discount or similar rather than hope that they would not take any shortcuts with prepaid servicing

You could have a chat to the top man & tell him why you are thinking of defecting...
Matthew Wiesner when he was PR for VW was Mobile 0417 683 250. Maybe that is still the same.
Somewhat annoyed with them myself at the moment. I have a minor warranty issue with an engine component. With the demise of Wakeling Skoda, I now have to go elsewhere, the nearest being about 40km from work. In all likelihood, it will take two visits, 1 to diagnose & order parts & 1 to repair. I have asked Skoda if a VW dealership can perform warranty work and they are adament that it has to go to a Skoda dealer. This is contrary to the implied (yeah, i know, if it's not in writing then it means nothing) warranty process when I bought the thing.
For GTI service costs - here?
Also, when I bought the thing, they told me that the 15,000km would be <$250; 30,000 <$400; 45,000 <$250; 60,000 <$700; 75,000 <$250; 90,000 <$400 (no timing belt).carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

ok, called all 3 service centres.
Richmond (Andy) 30k service = $560 + $150 for brake fluid
Mentone (Mario) 30k service = $410 + $66 for brake fluid
Preston (Matt) 30k service = $605 then - 7% Bayford discount = $approx $570 (including Brake fluid)
Can not figure out how they are getting all these different prices for the same job.
I'm reluctant to go back to Richmond becaus I feel i'm being ripped off (i did purchase the car there and it's convenient for me)
I'm reluctant to go to Mentone because I feel like they are missing something (they never seem to mention the brake fluid change until i prompt them)
Reluctant to go to Preston because it's sooo far out of my way.
Thoughts?
