I have access to a lot of gated private roads.
180 - got there surprisingly quickly as I thought I'd be lucky to hit 160 in the space available. Backed off after that as the cleared area on the sides of the road reduced from 100m down to 50m (gotta watch for animals) & there'd be a mountain of paperwork if there was an accident.
The car could have gone faster (I wasn't using full throttle) but I like to leave some room for error.

edit: This isn't really a fair thread for most drivers.

110km/h of course! Remember also not to confuse the speedo readout with reality - they tend to read a tad high, especially in the top third of the dial!

Forgot about that - 118kmh indicated is 110kmh on the GPS. So my 180 was probably more like 165.

Didn't really look at the speedo - I was too busy scanning for wildlife.

As i said, this thread isn't fair unless you do track days or have access to private roads.

funny to say that I ran over a rabbit and it sounded pretty bad, but no scars, that plastic on the base is actually pretty strong. Its got one light scratch from that rabbit i think.

I have read reports on Briskoda of the 2.0 TFSI engined vRS' reaching an indicated 140 Mph (227 Kmh) on various "private roads" and autobahns. Apparently the Octy wagons are slightly faster than the hatch (and the Golf GTI) due to more slippery aerodynamics.

I have been a little curious about what mine would do, but the various consequences (legal, car damage and life/injury) have been sufficient to dissuade me (I probably would have tried to find out 30 years ago, but I am more conscious of just how many things can go wrong these days).

I don't think many race tracks have the right layout to try for these types of top speed runs, an airport with a long, wide, airplane-free runway would be more suitable (or Lake Gairdner in SA ? ).
2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

I know its a bad idea but had to see how far she would go

felt like she had some more in her too

120 on the speedo with 3 gears to go. I wouldn't do anything illegal afterall.

omg 225 lol and still going that's pretty impressive... yet it's the car is so stable at high speeds it's quite weird. I've found myself going faster than I think at times
