Agh I can't win lately

Had my car tinted, via the local Mazda dealer who I have other cars from as they do a good job. I pulled off all those transparents stickers in the rear quarter windows beforehand, but they left a little sticky residue which I left for them to clean off....Wrong they put the tint right over it...so already have to be carless while they fix that now.

Then on Friday it was going in to get the defective headlights replaced...turned out later in the day when I expected it back that the service dept had decided to take last Friday off, so it was there all Friday (got up early to drop it off on my last day off mind you) all weekend and got it back yesterday finally. I did have a 2L diesel DSG Octavia in the meantime, but I was pretty peeved as I needed my car on the weekend and had left things in it I would need.

Then today after getting it back I realise that the front upper door speaker cover is cracked.......I don't recall seeing it like that earlier in the week, but it definitely wasn't like that first thing this week as I cleaned it, so not sure whether the tinters did it, or the Skoda dealer..or it just spontaneously cracked.

My bet is with the tinters as I suspect they pulled off the door trim, and it appears to have a little gouge on its lower side where it might have been pried off.

It never seems to end lately...

I think I read somewhere that a large percentage of VAG warranty claims are actually traced back to window tinting ( whether dealer or 3rd party installed)

I hope your 3rd "trouble" isn't too disastrous.

I'd believe it, I reckon a lot of rattles in doors are caused by the tinters who remove all the trim, break some bits or not return them right and then push it all back on.

In my case it seems the trim wasn't removed, so I suspect it might have been someone leaning on it, or elbowed it. That particular cover is pretty weak. Luckily they come off and are replaced easily, but who knows what Skoda will charge for the part. It does have a little "pry" mark on the lower bit of it like someone pulled it off...which makes me wonder if they got curious and broke it taking a peek at what was behind it.

I love this car, would just like to be able to drive it in peace...

With my first Octy, I got the impression that my car was the first skoda they dealt with. This was the dealers tinter too. I had to take my car back to the dealer to have numerous rattles in every door & the tailgate, and even a bolt in one of the rear door handles fixed (was sliding around inside the plastic of the handle). It was never really properly fixed. On the front doors I made a little gap between the trim and the door metal, and little bits of trim plug plastic fell out.
The dealer admitted the tinter had been at fault and was going to charge them for the repair of the doors.

Seeing as I know the tinters would put up a fuss, I warned them that it had been broken and if it cost to much $$ I would order a new one from Skoda and hand them the bill.

Skoda here are going to replace it at their cost though which I kinda feel bad about, but to be honest I don't know who broke it. The tinters are nothing to do with the dealer so that's good of them really. I know it wasn't me, as it was at the tinters and then back at the dealers later in the week...and was fine when I dropped it off. I can't see how the Skoda ppl would have done it, but the tinters I'd say they leant on it, that part is pretty weak if you push it (the bit where the mirror control sticks out).

My tinter didn't remove any trim, only the furry bits the window slides against. But then this guy is the best in the business and treats your car like it's his own. First Skoda he'd done too - he's just more careful than your average tinter.
