  • Snow Flake Warning

On the way to work this morning my Skoda beeped loudly and a Snow Flake appeared on the MFD. So I pulled over because I thought something was wrong with the car.

After going through the manual several times, I discovered that Skoda's warn drivers if the temperature goes below 4°C because there may possibly be snow on the road. I don't think that is very likely in Perth, West Australia.

Just shows how cold it was this morning.

Our Outlander & Captiva did it too.

I'm surprised how often it comes on - I never realised how many cold places we go to.

              Sydney.

But I've had the snowflake go off in Canberra, Snowy Mountains, Bathurst, Orange, Lithgow, Dubbo and Western Sydney.

Interesting things is I recently came across the aftermath of a snowstorm near Lake George (between Canberra and Goulburn), cars speared off the road and parked upside down in culverts piggy back style, backwards in the embrace of trees etc etc, and my snowflake man said absolutely nada !

At first I couldn't figure out why all these cars had run off the road (the road was wet but clear by then), than I came across some slush on the road a bit further along (I had slowed down immediately as a precautionary measure, being unsure as to what the hell was going on).

The unhappy unorthodox "parkers" must have continued to barrel along at their usual 110+ ignoring the white fluffy stuff and what it was doing to their tyre's traction, until suddenly they realized thay were no longer in charge of their car's destiny

Being a Canberra resident like mrgolf, it is a rare winter morning or evening that mr snowflake doesn't announce his presence with that distinctive "bong".

After finishing work the other morning I heard the warning signal and sure enough the snowflake warning came up. I'm not used to all these beeps and precautionary measures. Scared me into thinking I had done something wrong to the car.

Ahem ... you could live in a warm state. My 'snowflake' only made 1 appearance this 'winter'.
