  • Skoda Octavia II stereo speaker problems

    Anybody dissapointed with the sound of Skoda Octy 'Audience' sound system ?

    I've read on the web that the problem is with the speakers/tweeters in the doors:

    Anyone done any mods in this department ?

    I havent noticed. I reckon the sound in the Skoda is at least as good as the premium kit in the GTI. I reckon it copes with more bass, too.

      I find it OK but I've never been big on car audio anyway (cloth ears?).

      I found I have to turn
      treble=3
      mid=0
      bass=3

      and it sound OK but I'd be interested in doing some fine tuning as well.

        I was disappointed too until I turned the treble right down. Mine is at minus 4. Those tweeters are a bit loud.

          I played arouind with the Treble, Mid, Bass and am much happier with how it sounds now. Made a big difference.

            Funnily enough when I read your post I was wondering what I had set mine to because I didn't take note of it when I played around with it yesterday.

            So, as soon as I finished work, I turned on my stereo, and guess what: My treble was set on MINUS 4.

            You are absolutely right, these Skoda's have a bit of problem with the treble and the tweeters. When I turned my treble down, it was so much nicer.

              I have $10 ears so it doesn't really matter for me

                I was wondering if there is anyone that can comment on:
                1. The sound quality of the Columbus Sat Nav & speakers
                2. If there is anyone who has added amps or additional speakers to an Octy? I have a "piggy back" system in one of my cars (Subaru) with the speaker outputs of the genuine head unit (non changeable/integrated) stepped down to line level and then fed into two separate amps for full range and subwoofer. Anyone have any experience of electrical issues with aftermaket amps in a Skoda?

                  Im looking into doing this on my octy II with the columbus..
                  Not sure how im going to go about it just yet, but was thinking navone LOC with a 4 channel amp in the boot (2 channels for front speakers and the other 2 bridged for a sub)
                  Not sure if this is the right way to go about it though
