Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Columbus MIB1 upgrade to MIB2

Not sure if it's been covered before, but I want to know if I can upgrade my MY15 RS with the Columbus MIB1 to MIB2 so that I can get Smartlink (and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto). What are my options in Aus? In the EU/UK it seems like you can go to Skoda and upgrade it for a fee.

Main priority is, I want Apple CarPlay.

Edit: After doing a bit of research, it seems like MIB1 does not have Smartlink so can't get Apple CarPlay unless I upgraded to an MIB2 (which I have seen done my people in EU but $$$). So I guess I'm out of luck.
