Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Dogbone Inserts vs pendulum mounts

Have been getting a bit of axle tramp so have been looking at dogbone inserts. From reading it seems that these inserts may hold things a bit rigid and so are prone to breaking off at some point, particularly if treated harshly. I have been reading about APR pendulum mounts which seem to do the same job but are not as rigid. I am probably way off so if anyone has practical experience with either or both your thoughts would be most welcome.

    Hey Mate,

Ive had the CTS insert one and now have the HPA puck and arm.
The CTS did the trick for a while, but then broke the front off. It also broke on a DSG car as well (Im Man)

I replaced with the HPA kit, puck and arm, there is a lot more vibration but it seems normal to me now.

There is a lot of info on the Facebook page SkodaModderz, have a search around there.
APR do one that 1 member has, and the 034 one is good too, the CTS one I feel is to thin in the walls.

Get the insert first and see how you go as for most its enough.... O34 or APR have some nice offerings, the CTS one looks pretty flimsy and ive seen one crack

Ive been in a car with the HPA setup and the NVH was horrible at idle with aircon running
