  • Wheel spacers??

Has anyone looked into fitting wheel spacers (such as the ones that Eibach Springs - Automotive and Industrial Springs have)

I would like the look of a "fatter" stance...so I am considering fitting these.

Any thoughts or comments about whether this is a good or bad idea would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Pretty sure it's illegal to have one fitted. There is a potential wheel bearing issue (they are not the greatest in our car) when fitting a spacer. Vibration can also occur but can be negated with hubcentric spacers.

I would have thought the FL vRS has wider stance than the pre-FL vRS??

“Wheel spacers (or adaptors for dual wheel conversions) between the wheel mounting face and the road wheel must not be used unless fitted as original equipment by the vehicle manufacturer.”

      Source: https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicl...ov_2015_v4.pdf

Aftermarket fitment will result in the vehicle being unroadworthy in every State and Territory.

I had 12mm spacers on the rear of my mk2 Octavia RS, for 6 yrs.
        No issues/probs.
I now have 15mm spacers on my mk3 Superb.

If u gonna put 'em on - make sure they r hubcentric and have longer bolts.

I think they are illegal and reduce the bearing area of the wheel to the hub which increases the local stresses. Wouldn't recommend

Like anything - it’s only illegal if you get caught. In the event of a collision however, if your insurance company or Mr Plod looks too closely and determines that your vehicle is unroadworthy...then it could get expensive. At fault collision or not is irrelevant.

Just saying - you pay your money and you take your chances.

I’m not saying don’t do it - I’m just saying if you do, then do it with full knowledge of the rules. That way you don’t get a nasty surprise. I’m sure we’ve all broken the rules once or twice in our lives.

Buy some wheels with the correct offset to do what you want Far safer and legal as well

Just because some have been doing it for years doesnt make it right either

I'm running 10/15mm on my RS245 and it looks great, nearly as good as some of the official Skoda brochures lol you could even go 15/20mm if need be. Been running spacers and at times pcd adapters over many years and have never had an issue, if you do run them as others have mentioned make sure they are 57.1 and of good quality

As already said buy some wider offset wheels and be legal and safe. Just because some on here choose to do it and advocate it doesnt make it right

i've heard good things about Burger Motorsports Wheel Spacers.

                              shipping is a killer though
