Anyone got a Roomster ??????

Just wondering what you think of it?
How does the 1.6 go in manual form, is it sufficient?
What could you fit in the back?
Can you just unlock the front door/s & keep the rears closed?

From what i hear the 1.6 in the caddy is (understandably) a bit gutless.

The Roomster is base on the caddy underpinnings, so i'd say you'll have the same issues.

Roomster has a polo front end and golf rear...the caddy has a commercial (truck/van) trans axle. I tried both & bought the tdi roomster.

Someone in the coal mining region in central Queensland has one. I must say I couldn't believe it when I spotted one on the drive out to Blackwater from Rockhampton. The closest dealer is in Nambour which is about 700kms away.
Strangeness. But hey it was good to see a Skoda in the middle of nowhere.

i found the 1.9 oil burner to be a great match for the roomster. pulled really well from low down and the ratios for the gear box seemed spot on! sure its a bit gruff especially in comparison to the 2.0 TDi but its still a good honest little unit

believe it or not i had a blast driving it around the AHG track.. even when i spun it onto the grass

We bought one (1.9 TDI, corrida red). Didn't try the petrol to be honest. We couldn't be happier with it's versatility & space vs small exterior size. It's quite zippy enough with the diesel - no sports car, but no sluggard either.

You'd have to try both petrol & diesel for your own impressions, i'd guess. The rear seats slide, fold & come out completely, so you can fit a fair bit it in - hard to describe how that is useful. I can fit an XL size pushbike (front wheel off) upright + have my 2yo in his child seat in the back. We couldn't find many small wagons or 4wds that had as much useful cargo space.

We like the red, but you wouldn't want to be over sensitive to being called Postman Pat. For us the caddy didn't really compare (though it would have more space when you took the rear seats out..and put them somewhere!)

Just bought a Roomster

We just bought a 1.9tdi Roomster. Very happy with it, drives beautifully! Fuel economy is averaging 5.3L per 100 per tank. Strength of radio reception is crappy though.

I have a roomster. 1.9L diesel. DIdnt consider petrol - the availability of diesels was a major reason to moving to a Skoda. Before then I had only ever owned Falcons. Loved the torque produced by the Falcon's engine - but you need 4L of it! With a diesel I could get good torque from 1.9L.

As for what I fit in the back - recent Ikea trip - 4 chest of drawers, TV cabinet, wall cabinet - and with 3 people on board. Could have fit more luggage in. Best part was the car felt no different to drive even with all that stuff in it (diesel torque coming in again). Uphill run home (Brisbane to Warwick), and it still returned under 5L per 100km.

Only ever seen 2 other Roomsters on the road. One of those was just on Xmas day near Toowoomba
