Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • It has arrived...

My partner's new 77tsi red Fabia wagon manual has arrived.

    We love it.

It has the new badges, the first one our dealer had seen. New Skoda badge has silver winged arrow instead of green, and Skoda name is now in plain capital leters on the boot, instead of on the round Skoda badge. A couple of other minor changes too - extra chrome around gear lever knob and boot, I forget what else. The dealer is John at Peninsula Skoda in Frankston, a long way from home (we drove past 3 other Skoda dealers to buy from there) but he was great to deal with. He seems genuinely a Skoda enthusiast.

John mentioned that the day our car arrived, a new Superb also arrived and it was a bit funny that the little Fabi had the new badges but a new Superb built the same time has the old green badges.

Our car has manual trans, climate control, reverse beeper & display on radio screen, privacy glass, sill scuff plates, floor mats and BRIGHT red paint. It also has hill start assist (holds handbrake on a second so you don't have to do handbrake starts) which isn't mentioned in the brochures anywhere. It's a wee ripper.

You need to upload your photos to a hosting site such as imageshack, tinypic, photobucket or tapatalk via mobile.

Nice choice a manual fabia wagon and red too, how long ago did you order it? We seriously considered a manual fabia wagon so very good choice.

any clues why I can't insert a photo?
I can go through selecting "insert image" and add the URL of the image which appears between but nothing appears in the post.

Looks great, the colour is very nice and the new badges look good too. The one we considered was in stock but was black, if it was like this then maybe we would have got it.

Well the car is now about 5 months old and has done about 8000 km.

It is fantastic, absolutely not one thing wrong with it. Nothing is a bit loose/wonky/crooked/second rate. You can understand why Skoda's owner satisfaction is so high. Everything opens/closes perfectly with a light touch. No rattles or squeaks. Japanese builds quality but with European fun to drive.
Fuel economy is averaging BETTER than the advertised figures - gettintg about 5.4 l/100km average.
Today we had a trip to Warrnambool, we got stuck behind some motorhomes and ended up quite late, after I passed them I pushed the little car pretty hard to make up time. Still averaged 5.7 l/100km. (actual fuel figures, not off the trip computer.)

I can't rave enough about it.
My partner often says "thanks for finding me this great litttle car."
