After hanging around for a couple of months here in the Skoda forum I'm one step closer to being a fully fledged member. Put the order in yesterday for a Fabia 77TSi DSG. Rallye Green with the white roof should make it [I]seriously[I] easy to spot in a car park. I know it's the absolute bottom of the range, but I was looking for a light/small car I can fit in and see out off (192cm or so) I was really limited to 4. I also wanted a full size spare, so once that was considered it was the Fabia, Prius C, Jazz or i30. Got my dearly beloved to then see which of them see liked driving. With three biggish people the Fabia was first and took us up a nearby hill with comfort (and the motor sounded like it was enjoying it). Then the Jazz, which worked hard up the hill, then the i30, which she didn't particularly like, and then the Prius C, whose reversing camera was very impressive. To my surprise she picked my sentimental favourite.
I'm looking forward to saving fuel costs over our Mazda 6. Looking forward to not having to service it twice a year. Looking forward to easier parking. Just have to wait for it now. Might be in August, but hopefully earlier. Plan on keeping the car for the next 10 years, so I'm really hoping the famous Skoda reliability outweighs the VW DSG issues you see around the interwebs. I had a fairly aggressive price I was after in order to keep some $ aside in case it's needed for later years. One dealer said no to my price, the next one said yes. It really does help when you know exactly what options you want and can say "Yes" when they ask if you are prepared to sign up today and put a deposit down.
When the first Skoda day in Melb is on in Sept or later I'll bring the 1.2 litres of turbo charged hoondom along for a day out.
