  • Word on whether VW 5 year transmission (DSG included) will extend to non VW brands?

    Hi guys,

Noted recently that VW have extended their drivetrain warranty to 5 years for new cars, and this includes the famous DSG transmission. Anyone heard if that extension has/will apply to other cars within the group who use the DSG?

    Brad.

Me again. Just got an email back from VW Aust and they said that the longer warranty "...is not offered on Skoda vehicles". Another bargaining chip when it comes to purchase price.

Edit: also emailed Skoda direct and got the same response.

when I purchased my car, they were offering 5 year warranty as standard. its a shame it was only promotional, I assumed it was from that point on!

VAG do seem determined to have Skoda fail in this country.

I agree, and I just don't understand why the hell you would go to the effort to import a new brand here and then just leave them to their own devices, like the cars (not advertising, not proper dealer service, etc) will sell themselves.

Skoda's having an inferior warranty to Volkswagens (the opposite to when they were launched here - Skoda's warranty was 3-years/unlimited km and VW's was 3-years/100,000 km) goes against their 'value' positioning in the VW Group. It's disgusting.

The extended warranty in question is only for the transmission.
