Thanks for your comments. I only picked up an all white one because it was what was available for the right price on the lot (red or grey with dark room and rims would have been my first choices), but I admit I'm starting to really like the stealth look a lot. It's amazing how many shocked looks I get when it blows some wannabe away (for some reason, other little "normal" cars are the ones who usually want to "play").

My latest cosmetic mods...
1.Dash Mat.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, some people think they look ugly, but if you want your dash to survive more than a couple of Australian summers, they're just about a necessity. Keeps it cooler inside as well, because the dash was holding a fair bit of heat prior to installing this. You can get a black version as well, but the interior is dark enough already for me to go down that route. In case anyone's wondering, it has a flap cut into it to allow the passenger side airbag to deploy properly.

2. Rear sill/scuff plates.
A good match for the fronts. I believe they're genuine, but not 100% certain. Available from Superskoda, and presumably other places as well.

3. Monte Upper Grille
A great improvement, as this now matches the mirror scalps, and the whole front looks more aggressive. The contrast with the white also helps "make" the look. Yes, I know I still have the chrome bottom surround, but I'm not about to change the headlights - not worth it to me for the cosmetic change - and they match the remaining chrome.

4. Middle Muffler/Resonator Delete.
I can't really "show" you the sound improvement, but here's a pic of what comes out. From the looks, given the straight-through glass-pack look of it, you won't get much, if any, performance increase, but it does sound better.

Oh dear I missed that one altogether. Photographer wife will get a good laugh. She likes the look too, but enjoys the current trimmed down decal look on mine.Originally posted by Rubbadub View PostAbout 2 minutes in MS Paint.
I can confirm that it really starts with "1E".
Will post a new pic or three tomorrow.

Tried to put the hood dampers in - What? TORX-ey type screws/bolts? - Not in my toolbox....
Had to settle for putting in new NARVA Arctic Blue +50's no more yellow low beam.

Deleted the green checkerboard, SKODA badge, and Nurburgring decals, for a cleaner look.Last edited by BrashDaniels; 09-04-2013, 05:57 PM.NOW: 2018 MY19 Kodiaq Luxury and Tech Packs: 132kW Petrol 7DSG Sunroof and Ivory Leather

I assume those are genuine plates?
I've got a cheap toolset from Supercheap Autos, a screwdriver with a whole range of different sockets and heads, including Torx-ey ones.
How long do those decals last? I'd imagine only a few years in decent condition.Last edited by Rubbadub; 09-04-2013, 07:52 PM.Now gone.... 2012 Skoda Fabia RS

Looks like I'll be headed back to super cheap. Been spending a bit of time there.Originally posted by Rubbadub View PostI assume those are genuine plates?

Yes they're my plates. Have been thinking of getting euro ones to fill the gap better, or maybe some sort of custom job like a Lakin...
I took the cheap decals off, they are only rated for two years. These ones are the digital vinyl. Supposed to last five to seven years but that might be generous.

Went in for the breather mod today. The car had used approx 2L in 8000km, which I thought was a touch high, despite VW's lenient guidelines. The dealer didn't quibble, ordered in the breather, installed it and topped up the oil.
I need to return in 1000km when they are going to drop the oil to see how much it has used. Hopefully, the breather won't make the issue worse, as it's only used approx 250ml in the last 1300km (mileage picked up while the part was ordered, and before I got around to dropping the car back in). My oil filler hole has been taped up, so I'm not supposed to touch it unless the yellow light comes on, but I can still monitor the dipstick.
If it works great. If it doesn't work (but the consumption is no worse), then so be it. Looks like I'll get a free oil change, so that's another possibility of a useful outcome. Now gone.... 2012 Skoda Fabia RS

Hood dampness? No, I did not get any dampness..... I got dampers, as in gas struts.Originally posted by lunchboxGTI View PostCould you tell me where you got the hood dampness from please.
