Seat Ibiza Gti Sports Exhaust Upgrade

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some advice of best place to get a decent sports exhaust fitted from Cat Back?

Not looking for anything too expensive. Wanting to keep it around the $500-$600 mark if possible.

If you are looking for more power, you wont gain much (read anything) that way. I would save your money for brakes, tyres and suspension to make it faster that way. Even a sportier cam would be better.

If you want more noise, you could get the rear box changed for something straight through and slightly larger for less $$$

The standard 'biza GTI exhaust is very good.

I think I might go with your option. I'm looking at coilovers as current the suspension is stock and I can feel every bump on the road.

Do you have any suggestions for coilovers that don't cost a fortune?

If you are keen on coilovers, paya bit more and get some decent ones like Weitec for example - you might be able to pick up a set for $1300 somewhere. This rather than spend $500 on the cheapest ones which are really no comparison in terms of ride comfort and handling (they will get you low though.)

If you only want new sportier suspension, I might suggest looking into a Koni or Bilstein kit with springs and shocks - that would be cheaper and ride even better, and can be sourced from ebay UK pretty cheaply.

An Ibiza GTI with standard suspension (but new!) will stick to the road like the proverbial to a blanket - so be sure to consider all your needs before spending the money.

Its pretty easy to end up with a rather unpleasant car to live with when you put very low/hard suspension in a small hatchback - I know, I've been there! On the flipside, I convinced my little brother to get an Ibiza GTI and I am amazed at just how brilliantly it sticks to the road, corners and handles just with new OEM shocks.

Cheers thanks for the advice. Looking at ebay uk to see what the price differences are. Matt from Camden GTI advised that he had some contacts in the uk to bring in some stock also.

The handling on the car is awesome. The other option I had was to just get some pedders shocks installed which may be a cheaper option to the coilovers? I'm eventually looking at getting stage 1 upgrades done so in due time and take it out on track days.

I agree with all of the above. The standard exhaust is very good. My mate spent over $1,000 on a cat back and gained maybe 2kW. Interestingly he bought a $60 Superchip off EBay and dynoed, it gave an extra 2 KW. I got one as well and although minor you could feel the difference mid range.

I went with KW V2 coilovers and I am very happy with them. I have them on the highest (height) setting and softest shock setting and it is great. Wind the rebound up and it will shake your fillings out. You will have to spend over $2,000 for them though. A good set of slightly lowered springs and Konis or Bilstein shocks will do the trick.

My Beeza in that configuration was as quick around Queensland Raceway as my chipped Polo GTI on standard suspension on a hot afternoon.

I think I'll have to go for the Koni or Bilstein option for now as I don't have the 2K to spend on KW. Can I ask if you guys have replaced the clutch on the car at all? The one I have is stock and is very heavy.

I'm happy for you to take my Ibiza 8v for a drive. I have JOM Blueline coils fitted. So going from Eibach (springs only) to the Blueline coils have been awesome. Very comfortable ride including the ability to go very low without compromising the ride quality. All for a very reasonable price.

You be the judge. Drive the car and see if that's the sort of ride you want. We have also just fitted a higher quality set of coils from JOM, the Extremes in a MK3 VR6, you can give that a go too.

As said stock exhaust is very good. Mine 16v has an aftermarket 2" sports muffler its so noisy and crap. (Previous owner had it done)

As said spend your money on a good service, suspension and brake pads.

I have FK coilovers in the front on my Cupra and they are awsome. Also do suspension bushes and strut tops at the same time.

How much did you pay for the blueline coil? Matt at Camden GTI advised that he can import some coils from UK for about $500 plus fitting and strut would end up being roughly 900. My main concern is having a good damper on the coils. Not too fussed about the ride height.

I've got a mate who's works for RDA and can get me a really cheap deal on custom rotors with better quality brake pads. I'm talking about for a 1/4 of the retail price so might go for that option also.
