From google, there are two different oil capacities - depends which gearbox you have - anyway aprrox 2 litres

An oil change is not likely to fix the crunch when selecting reverse - as there is no syncro on reverse
(Make sure the car is stationary when selecting reverse)

The clutch cable is prone to stretching - if the clutch engages low (on the way up) this is your problem - the clutch may be dragging even when the peddle is fully down, hence crunch - if you still have adjustment left you may be able to adjust it rather than replacing the cable

(May also need to check gear selector linkages for slop)
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

Pedal boxes often break as the clutch cable is hard to get and expensive. Thus, it gets stiff and then breaks the pedalbox. This makes reverse hard to engage and then the other gears. You'd need to take off the covers under th steering column and above the pedals and check it out. Welding it in situ is best and most achieveable solution. Good luck.

thank you as it was the cable and after adjusting them its great but i was told its max for now and that its not too healthy on the clutch.cheers tay.

            HI guys,
today i experience its harder to engage reverse and tonite i couldnt get the rest of the gears in.Do i check out the pedal box as suggested to do welding on it if its broken?I was more afraid if its the whole clutch system.Thankfully i have not experience the clutch slip when take off.Kindly it will also be great help to find out from you guys if i can get a replacement paddle box from wreckers and if i do need to replace the cable too.thank you. cheers tay
