              HooooooooRaaaaaaaAaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhh

Seat got engineered on Wednesday, Blueslip and Rego today.
              Happy Birthday to me.

Went home, put the big exhaust back on and had a tinker with the fuel mixture. The car is going on a dyno on Monday, but wanna be able to gun it at the cruise on Sunday.

Gave it a bit of a drive today, heaps of fun and goes better with more exhaust flow. I love the sound of a VR6 howling!

I`ll give it a clean and take some pics on the weekend.

                  is that a 12v engine???

i would like to see what power figure you get, and what exactly you have done with the engine..... also, do you now how much front cuts go for in Aus?? did you only do a gearbox and engine swap... or have the front brakes also been changed (including changing to 5 studs). also how hard is the conversion, not talking about the wiring part... but the actually bolting in of the new engine. can you still use all the stock mounts (gearbox and engine) and sub frame from a 95 GTi? what can it beat (skyrice, commo etc etc) how does it handle compared to the 2L engine. and lastly... is it worth it?

i have kinda been interested in this convo... but no one in England would give me a stright answer... so i waited till someone in Aus did it.

                  any help would be great.

Yup 12v engine. The front cut cost $4000 a couple of years ago, but VR6s are getting cheaper. You need the subframes, engine and box and front struts, hubs and brakes, yup conversion to 5 stud. The engine is stock, but low kms.

GTI SEATs have the same subframes as the Golf VR6, so you might be able to keep the frames and just bolt the golf engine and bigger mounts on. Equally you could get bigger front brakes for a SEAT Cupra Sport or something and retain your 4 stud hubs.

It was all bolt in plug and play, except for the Microtech fuel computer. I`m gonna get that tuned and dynod on Monday, so will let you know power figures then.

Its worth it for the noise it makes, havent really raced anyone yet, but will update you soon.

                      oh ok.... cooooll

i was quoted 6-7k for a VR6 front cut a few months back... but then again, he thought my Ibiza was an import  i might have to get you to find me one :p.... what are the chances of finding a 24v one (or 30v)?? and what would that set me back.

also could you use the stock ECU and wire that up... or would an aftermarket unit be needed.

oh... and what are the chances of a 1.8t fitting in?? have you heard anything about it (engine mounts and all that) a fair few people seem to be crashing there GTi golfs lately and they seem to be fairly common No one in the UK seems to give me any stright answers (even about the VR6) so i have stoped asking.

i'm thinking of selling the Ibiza and getting something a little more.... "fast".

i love the Ibiza and would perfer to keep it.... so VR6 and 1.8t seem to be the only options.... silly 8v

Hey '45set'. I'm sure you're aware of the Seat Ibiza Cupra Sport GTi 16v (110kW, 180Nm) vs 8v GTi (85kw, 166Nm). I have one in reasonably standard form and it is a very quick little machine. A beautifully balanced handler too.
The Cupra does the 0-100km/hr in 7.9 secs standard. With wider rims and tyres, a chip, exhaust and induction you're probably staring at about the 170hp mark, perhaps more, and a 0-100km/hr in about 7 secs or less.
If you put a VR6 in the front end, yes it will sound glorious but I'm guessing you'll find it to be too much for the little car, mainly weight.
If you love the Ibizas, I recommend you get your hands on a Cupra, you can just about buy one for the price of a VR6 front cut. Then you don't have to worry about the transplant and associated costs.

nice little plug there... arn't you selling yours??

i was actually looking into getting a cupra a few months back... but everyone i talked to said that if i was going to sell my car... it would be stupid of me to get the same type of car.... so i am off getting a cupra... i would love one... but yeah, sorry.

i'm actually considering selling my car at the moment, to get something else.

my brother is trying to get me to get some type of honda (unless its a EG civic with a B18c, i'm not even thinking about it) but there is this very nice 88 Ford Escost RS turbo for sale on the goldie that i am interested in... i might make a thread asking how much people would offer.

I have heard lots of amchair pundits claiming the VR6 is too heavy for the Ibiza, but I have driven the 1.4 and 2L Ibizas and this one handles better. It feels really solid on the road, is awesome round corners, real crisp turn in and the camber is sorted with the wider VR6 gear on the front. The VR6 brakes pull it up real well and the SEAT ABS is retained.

The people who are saying the motor is too heavy for the car are probably the same ones who say the Golf VR6 handles like a pig.
The guy who engineered the car has been doing it for 30 years and he was very impressed with the car and the mods.

Yeah VR6 frontcuts are getting cheaper and yes you could retain stock wiring. Its plug and play at the fusebox. The wiring in this car had been butchered too much, it was easier to go aftermarket.

If you were nearer, I`d let you have a go in this one, as it is you`ll have to build yer own

Yes Wabbit, tommorow after it is dynod. Let the races begin.
