Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Have you tried kick staring it? Just to make sure the engine is ticking over. Could be a starter issue. Also, I have found these cars are very fussy when it comes to earthing. Make sure your earth cable to and from the battery is secure. Really hard one to diagnose. Do you have NRMA or access to a mobile mechanic? Might wanna give them a shot.

does the engine turn over and just won't fire up, or it not even turning over? If it's turning over but not firing, then I would agree with Water Boy. Sam's Ibiza GTi was fine one day, then all of a sudden, wouldn't fire up. Swapped the coil pack from a MK3 2.0 and it fired up, so this could be your issue. Sourced one from the UK ebay for about $30. There are a few people breaking MK3 golfs on here, so I would try and get another one and see if that works (or better still try and find someone who will lend you theirs to try).
