Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Looking @ Ibiza Cupra

The old family run about car the Mitsubishi Magna TR is on its last legs and has served us well beside the fact that its getting about 16L/100km conservatively. So Im looking for something small, cheap to run, and FUN & FAST!!! The Ibiza Cupra looks like the one however I thought i'll ask some Q's about it first from those who own one.

Just wondering what type of fuel economy your getting now since the cars been on the road for about 12 years now. The one that I've been looking at has about 155,000 Km's on it. And Im not looking for what the factory said they got when first testing, need real figures.

Is there enough room for 4 grown men.

And just generally what I should be looking out for when inspecting and test driving one.

and any other info would be much appreciated.

    Hi Huss,

I've had my cupra since new, i've had no major problems with the car. I've had some of the standard mk3 issues, leaking fuel lines, perished crankcase breather hose, dip stick & most recently peddle box failure.

Just wondering what type of fuel economy your getting now since the cars been on the road for about 12 years now. The one that I've been looking at has about 155,000 Km's on it. And Im not looking for what the factory said they got when first testing, need real figures. Around town 10lt/100km, 6-7on the freeway.

Is there enough room for 4 grown men. hahahahahahahaha, maybe 4 grown short men! I'm 187cm tall & I have the seat one stop from the back & you can fit my fist between the back of the seat & the back seat.

And just generally what I should be looking out for when inspecting and test driving one. No different to test driving any car I guess, look for any signs of accidents etc, how does it drive (not how hard does it go). I don't know what else to tell you.

Anyway good luck with your search, and they do go well, I've really enjoyed mine & it still puts a smile on my face everyday.
