Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • HELP! biza gti engine trouble

my 95 ibiza gti is running really rough, it starts and then its making a kind of popping noise out the exhaust and when i rev it it will drop by itself, it seems to improve once its warmed up but still not right.

Or vacuum leak. Check the intake boot and hose from the back of the throttle body.

If you've no joy with the coolant sensor, change the Digifant ECU Voltage Control Relay - #30 on the fuse box p/n 165 906 381. All dealers will have in stock at about $35 RRP. It's the central relay to the entire engine management system and a very common failure. Most common symptom is significant misfiring at around 3k RPM, but it will also cause a heap of other faults due to affecting the throttle position signal etc.
