Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 94/95 Seat Cordoba, Paddock Life, Slipping Clutch, I Own It?

    Okay Okay, So...

    My father moved to WA a couple years ago (2 and a half?) and left behind a charcoal coloured 94/94 MK1 Seat Cordoba (Btw, something I can't find info on, it has stickers on it and on the steering wheel, and possibly shifter, saying 'RPM' or something) and I have yet to claim it from it's grassy haven at the back of a cherry orchard, sitting amongst other cars.

    I saw the Cordy sometime last year, and besides the tires, it was in the same condition when we first left it there, the paint on the roof had peeled some, but it did that anyways.

    Oh and note, I live in the Riverina in NSW, Australia.

    Now, my main points are;

    a) Is this car worth the effort to get back onto the road?
    b) How hard will it be to get a new clutch/gearbox/whatever! for it?
    c) Would it be hard to find a new front clip for it, as the current one is cracked from hitting a curb (No other damage, the car was just too low to get up there.)?
    d) Is it true I can contact VW for parts?
    e) Are there any parts that would not have survived the 2 year stand. (It has a pod filter installed. Just saying.)
    f) Do the lugnuts on the Cordy fit most aftermarket wheels?
    g) Any other tips that I should take about getting this car road worthy.
