Strut bushing

After I had new tyres fitted to my '99 Cordy, I was told that there was movment in the strut and that I should fit new mount bushings.
I've no experience with struts but would assume that they meant a rubber bushing at the top mount, inside the engine bay.
Is this a relatively simple job, done without completely removing the strut and spring?
Is it a common Seat/VW part that I will get at VW spares dealer?
Is there an upgrade available that I may really "need"?

Its a rubber cup type bushing with a metal insert and a separate bearing sits underneath it.

As they wear the rubber collapses and the bearing can pop through the rubber sheath.

Most old Seats and Golfs have worn strut top mounts or rubbers, if you get a suspension clunk over speedbumps or potholes you probably need em.

WARNING : You do need to compress the spring as if you take the nut off, it will catapult apart with high velocity.
