Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Help! My 1995 Cordy wont start!!!

Hi all so here's the story about two weeks ago i started having trouble starting my Cordy it would start to 500revs then shudder up to 1000revs as normal but that was only on first cold start of the day it did that for maybe a week or less then a week ago i went driving for a while stopped to get food for a friend and he started fine then went to get myself food and he didnt start he turns over but no fire...I'v had him almost 2yrs and he has never had a starting issue till now...i read on here that sometimes if its the ignition switch and you push the key up or down it starts but tried it and didnt work...i also read that it could be something to do with faulty leads or something...im a chick that doesnt know much about cars but i have my dad for back up...If anyone has any ideas what to check please help....fuses look fine.

Ignition coil is a pretty common failure on these. Causes exactly the symptoms you're describing.

Probably coilpack and its usually worth adding ignition leads and plugs to make sure.
