  • Cupras Fat Flywheel

Just had 3kgs taken off my flywheel, in the cupra. What a porker!. What were they thinking, putting in 10kgs of flywheel?! Anyway this probly isnt news to some of you guys, but now the ABF pulls like a demon. Im well happy with it. (Thanks to GolfLoon for all yer help, and Valver for the info). Its now got low down punch similar to the 8v, which makes it easier to drive normaly .I can also match the revs to the gearchange. Its got to be one of the best mods ive spent money on. Defnatly worth the hassle of pulling that massive gearbox out

Nice work - thought you'd be impressed. It's like gaining another 20% more torque

Nice, glad you are still luvving it Dave. Fat mission to pull the flywheel out, due to the hugeness of the gearbox, but worthit in the end.

Its a VR6 flywheel for anyone interested. You could take a similar amount of a VR6 one too

It shouldn't cost more than $100 to do but most firms wouldn't take on such a small job. I had looked into doing this awhile back but as I have a spare flywheel I'll do that and then the one in the car after to sell on.

Drove Daves Biza on Saturday and it went like a cut cat. I'm sold

I'd do a bit of hunting on the net but I reckon you could get away with dropping 10-20% of the total weight. Any more and it'll be too weak I think.

                      EDIT

I am planning on doing a job on the A3 soon, not sure the std clutch will hold up what I ahev planned for it.

ECS ship a flywheel that is 8lbs lighter than std!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be harder to find someone to do a KR one Static as they are a back to front clutch and would need a special jig.

They are also not as heavy as a VR6 or Cupra one.

Its the same flywheel as a T4 4cyl and a G60, I took 6kg's of the Caddy flywheel and it still idles smooth and revs so much better. Just remember to get it balanced after machining.
