Flat spot when cold

Recently I drove my wife's '95 Cordoba for the first time in months.

It starts and idles at cold with no probs but after about 50 -100 metres of driving it just about dies.

If I floor the accelerator, or feather it, the engine "catches" again and off we go. For those who remember carbies it's like a massive flat spot. It only does it once or twice then all's well.
There's no problem when it's warm.

My wife tells me that it's been doing it since she's had it (which is about 12 months and after I swapped the trans and had the head recon'd). It's not getting any worse but would appreciate any input as to what it may be.

Does it run badly and blow smoke when cold.
Could easily be the temp sensor switch on the water outlet on the front of the head.
We change heaps of em, i can send you a switch if you cant get one locally.

No smoke and only the couple of flat spots on first acceleration, other than that it's fine.
I was thinking perhaps a vacuum line but everything looks connected (I think correctly).
It's not a huge prob but if I'd like to sort it out.

Back from the dead, did the cold running roughness ever get sorted out ??

We procured Wade's daily driven cordy, reconditioned the head, changed a few minor leaking fuel hoses, thermo switch and now it roughs run when cold !

need to get it sorted for winter ( yeah, It'll take 5 months to do ! )

No, no progress. Didn't actually try anything further.

Oddly enough this car also had fully recond head and thermo switch (as well as s/h auto).

This one starts fine but will just about stall (or will stall) a couple of times after starting off. After that it runs fine.

It's not a huge problem but can be a bit of a pita. I have yet to change auto trans oil and eng oil (promised wife I'd do it over xmas break) so when I do I'll give it a tidy up and see if I can see anything untoward.

Flat spot when cold

Sounds similar to what Bron's did a while ago. When it was cold if you floored it it hesitated like a carburettored car without enough choke. Was OK with gentle acceleration but wasn't really running right in other subtle ways too.

I happened to notice coolant had leaked up the temp sensor and flooded the plug and socket. A second hand one from the local wrecker made it a new car.
