  • 95' Seat Ibiza, Engine Questions?

Hey i was just wondering if someone could help me out with some questions i have? i recently picked up s 95' sest ibiza with a blown head gasket and i was wondering? i dont actually have the car yet but i think it is a 1.4lt?? i am a mechanic so i can fix this with a new gasket and machining etc. However i have a complete 1.6lt aee motor in my garage out of a 99' polo and i was just wondering if the manifolds are a direct swap and would the basic block & heads be the same? other than the displacement 1.4/1.6?

If this makes any sense any comment would be appreciated lol.

    Cheers, Dean.

Hi Dean, welcome to the forum, SEATs are great cars.
The 1.6 AEE polo engine that you have is basically a bored out version of the 1.4 in the SEAT. I reckon the SEAT manifolds should bolt onto it and you can then just plug it in. I`d do it in a hearbeat, let us know how you get on. If you do need a headgasket, the only people I found who could order one in were Supercheap, Bizzarely!

Cheers for the advise Golf Loon! Im a vw/ audi mechanic so i can get the parts to fix this easily, but i was thinking if i could use the polo engine i would coz i dont think im gonna be able to sell it. I originally bought a 99' vw polo off a lady who drove around with the oil light on for a week so basically bye bye motor. so i sourced a s/h aee engine from adelade and fitted it and she ran like a beaut, until a month later some lovely lady decided to run a stop sign in front of me and i wrote it off. so it got stripped and all the bits and pieces got sold and also put onto my new 98' polo. Now i came across this seat with a blown head gasket and i thought if i can use the motor i have it would be a great car for my missus, coz she drives a thirsty commo

      Cheers, Dean.
