Woohoo - dealer said they would include the Optics option in my original price. So, I now have $800 to spend on "stuff".

      I'm open to suggestions .....

Ah, if only. That has the US-spec bracket-free grille; we get the European-spec grille with the plate bracket and reinforcement. (A few guys on ozAudi are doing the swap; costs a bit over $1k in parts, plus the labour to fit it.)

Yep but I couldn't find an image of Sepang Blue with black optics

I prefer the grill with the cross piece and we bought full size euro plates so none of that issue with wrong sized Aussie plates

I'm very tempted to do the US grille retrofit on mine at some stage; with the chrome grille it really makes things look much less busy (although there's only so much you can improve it when you have the front radar). Full-sized Euro plates do improve the look quite a bit, although even then I still find it's not as elegant as the bracket-less option personally.

Yes, it's very personal in terms of the look. I like the way the cross bar breaks the big grill up. Otherwise looks like a gaping mouth and in chrome, too much "look at me"

Edit - the two front panels have lines that flow into the number plate mounting area. Works well. I've seen some owners photos that installed the USA grill and it just spoils the flow of those lines.

It is a personal thing though

Saw it over on ozaudi this morning but not really of interest to me to be honest.

Edit - as Guy has said, they still have a fair amount of work to do on it.

                      "MQB DQ250 DSG Update.
                      Hello all,
We regret to inform you that since release it has come to our attention that a native issue can cause the transmission’s mechatronics unit to “brick” during any burn. This issue is only present on MQB DQ250 transmissions and does not apply to MK5 or MK6 vehicles. In short, a version of immobilizer is now present within the mechatronics and was not before. The issue lies within this mechanism. The issue has been known to occur even at dealerships and requires replacement of the mechatronics to repair. As a result, we have decided to discontinue to software until we have a fix or the mechatronics is updated. Effective immediately, MQB DQ250 software is no longer available. Please know that we will work diligently on the issue and provide you any updates we can.
Please contact your Account Manager with any questions regarding this email.
                      Sincerely,
                      Joel McKay
                      VP of Engineering"

Our S3 has been loaded onto the ship and leaves Belgium in the next few hours. UK-->USAx2-->Panama Canal-->NZ and arriving in Brisbane end of October, Should be in my hands around my birthday. Sweet.

Time to start removing gear from the R and getting it prepped for sale.

Interesting, yours is going the "other way round". It must be special.

Don't forget to splash your 5 euros and get onto erWin for your spec sheet!

Hi Adam - coming the same way my Golf R came. I'm special but in a bad way

The erWin spec sheet doesn't tell me anything I already didn't know though ?

The spec sheet just seems to be a copy of what I ordered unless I'm missing something and it is around 7 euro now. Not bothering.

                            Cheers

The spec sheet is a full build sheet - it shows (and confirms) all the options and other build codes. I bought it for my GTI, and my S3. In the former case it helped me identify a spec error (in my favour), and in the latter it reassured me that my custom order was exactly as it should be.

At least one of the blokes on ozAudi I spoke to about it was able to identify an order error with his S3 thanks to the erWin sheet.

It's not pretty - it's six pages of codes.

                                Cheers Adam.

This doesn't seem right - thought it was 210 kW ?

MOT 4-cylinder SI engine 2.0 l/221 kW TFSI base engine is TT6

Everything else seems right - sadly no DAB, no Audi Connect but as expected.

Says chrome pack but also says external black trim. Some codes will need some googling to see what they are. Assume the 3D black inlays are there.
