  • Best chip for B7 A4 2.0TFSI Quattro?

Just wanted to know if anybody has a particular recommendation in regards to which chip would be the best for this car. I find that the car currently lacks acceleration at take off, but once it reaches around 55km/h then it takes off.

From the little that I have read about the different types of chips, I have understood that they are all good (apr, GIAC & revo), but they react differently at different speeds and revs. That is why my question is a bit more specific to this car.
Is there a chip that might elliminate this problem or just be more appropriate for this car?

Are you running multitronic mate????? Also my opinion is have your vehicle tuned on the dyno live, you will spend the dollars but its suited to your vehicle , yes i do agree the chips in the market are good but its not personalised to your vehicle if you know what i mean.

No difference chipping wise but the reason i mention Multitronic is that you can experience some delays with that transmission , all that said it a great set up , just make sure and adhere to the service intervals for the Trans mate and all is well. T2.0ltr with the Quattro is a top unit man im jealous. I think Apr would suit your vehicle well mate as a nice thing with noticeable gains and you can switch it on and off via the cruise switch.

When you change over to stock mode through the cruise control, can that be detected by the dealership when i go in for a standard service?

One of the guys from work was telling me a story about his B7 turbo quattro and that had APR software in the car and one day he has taken the car for a service and the dealer told him that they are voiding the warranty cause it has modiffied ecu. They were there arguing about it for hours and he has asked the dealer how they knew about it and they told him that all dealers are aware of the cruise controll trick and the 1st thing they do is try it when they get turbo cars.
So after that experience he has sold that car and bought another one exactly the same with the warranty and went and got GIAC this time. I asked him why GIAC this time? and he said that GIAC uses some sort of controller box pluged in somewhere that switches the software between stock and performance. So every time he takes the car for a service this time he switches back to stock and leaves the box at home and the same dealer hasnt said anything.

Having bought a mkV GTI my self ill be looking at getting GIAC i just cant afford to lose the factory warranty.

APR have a security lockout feature - 4 digit PIN number that has to be used to access the programs.

stewartlittle - can you PM or email me the details of this customer - I would like to follow it up - I want to check it & make sure its not a rumour spread by someone else.

We do ~ 400 cars with this system a year & sure its possible, but I have never heard of it. If its a case involving exactly what you say, I'm sure we would have heard about it.

                Thanks

Trollg4 - run the free trial from any of those companies you mentioned. Try before you buy.

We have done in excess of 60 of these B7's with the CVT's, and although it does not cure the CVT "Hesitation" it makes it an awful lot better due to the low torque delivery & smoothness of the chipped output.

Give us a call if we can help you out with it further.

                  Cheers

Something about this "story" makes me think it's a "story".

We have a guy who spent 2 grand chipping his car. Dealer said no more warranty, so he sells car and loses another 10 or 15 grand, buys another car, spends another 2 grand chipping it, knowing full well that warranty can be denied again just as easily.

Sounds like a fairy tale to me, since the car may never have needed a warranty claim that might be denied. No-one in their right mind then dumps thousands of dollars to return themselves to the identical situation.
