  • A1 sport oil useage

I am looking at buying a 2011 A1 Sport. I know there is a lot on the VW forums about reliability and the high oil consumption on some new polo gti engines.

Do any owners of A1 Sports have different experiences? I was thinking that maybe the audi 1.4 twin turbo engines were made in a different factory and maybe more reliable?

They are all reliable mate, you only hear of a handfull of problems whereas the good ones keep quiet.Thats what warranty is for.

Just be aware that a 2011 model is part of the DSG recall program. As for the motor they are a little bit hit and miss as far as oil consumption goes. All the twincharger motors for the Polo GTI, Fabia VRS and A1 sport are made in Germany, all the single turbo 1.4 and 1.2 motors and are Czech made. My Fabia twincharger used up to 800ml of oil per 1000km for the first 10k. Then had the factory breather valve mod and it is now closer to 200ml per 1000km. The difference between the A1 136kw engine and the Polo/Fabia 132kw engine is only in the ECU tuning, mechanically they are exactly the same.
2012 Fabia II VRS Estate - APR stage 2 tune, Custom 2.5" turbo back full stainless exhaust with ceramic coated dump pipe, Harding Performance Cold air intake, Wagner Tuning Competition Intercooler, GFB DV+ diverter valve, Braille B2317RP battery, Eibach pro kit springs, Bilstein B8 shocks, Harding Performance F+R ARB, Super Pro bushes, Porsche 986 Boxster S front brake calipers, 330x28mm front rotors, Ferodo DS2500 front pads and Remsa rear pads, Enkei RPF1 17x8 et.35 with 235/40R17 Yokohama AD08R tyres, Maxton front splitter and Superskoda fender flares.
