question, when putting it back on do i need to change over the gasket as well? and is it as easy as just unbolting it, taking it off to paint it etc then bolting it back on...?

    cheers
It should have a re-usable gasket on it, so in that case, yes it'll be as easy as taking it off, painting it and putting it back on

unless 20v's have some sort of voodoo attaching their rocker covers that is

    Wheels are looking awesome btw.
keen to see how you go with that poke.
if you can get the front lower it will start to swallow it up.

R32 ones are the same size, just a bit more heavy duty.
they might look bigger then your old ones as the old ones were probably flat/compressed.
I have R32 ones in and they seem to cope with the coilovers better. there are a few models you can hijack them from but strut length poking out the top needs to be taken into account...

anyway, uncovered these little gems today
not sure if to keep them as is, or attempt to refurb them with a silver paint pen...

Yeah most of it - also used an old toothbrush to get any other gunk out!

what did you do to clean up the bolts?
left them in coke for a couple days, strained them (mum wasn't happy) using the kitchen strainer.. then put them in a bucket of boiling water and started polishing... one by one... by hand... great times were had by all.

ok time for some quick snaps - got some new bolt in valve stems today so chucked them on the lips, the old ones were rooted and not one place i've been to in melbourne has had any or even known what they were... so ebay it was.
a few shots of how the car sits now, had to raise it up a tad as i was scrubbing on the front sway bar... car looks to have a big, high booty but i swear its just unphotogenic

a before and after of the bolts...

and how the new wheels sit with the adapters...

    front

    back
