Hi guys got a question. I am wondering if my reasoning is right. I am currently looking at an A4 with the usual cluster starting to malfunction gauges all going crazy etc. Do you think if i was to replace the cluster with a donor and the engine ecu which is matched from the donor that would save an Audi plug in. i have Vag com and can code but cluster change requires Audi GEKO connection to code now. But the way im thinking is if i buy a second hand cluster and matched ecu that would work????? Is my reasoning right??????

I reckon that would work. Probably be easier with the right key too.
What about the radio though aren't they coded to the ECU and clocks too??

All good mate the radio is an old Eurovox jobbie. no need to worry about that. Hey ive had another brain wave would it work if i unsoldered the eeprom from the original and solder it in to the donor 1 then all the key info would still be recognised? After all its the cluster thats faulty, the car still starts etc so the eeprom is still good, what do you reckon?Alba European

I think the immobiliser chip isn't the same one that does the engine parameters.
Although you could look for the immobiliser chip itself.
