Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • [DEKAY]'s A3 2.0T

I finally decided to make a separate post for the Audi quarter here. I dont post very often on VWW but i do follow the forums with interest so i think i owe a proper introduction.

For those who dont know, ive been on the scene with my A3 since March 2011. Since then the car has been getting various bits and pieces added/replaced. My progress is logged on ozaudi, but ill condense all that progress (so far) down to this thread and update it here every now and then.

I originally wanted a mk5 GTI at the time of buying my car. I didn't find a GTI of particular interest and stumbled upon the A3 as an attractive prospect.. i made my offer and left it for a week. To my surprise the deal went through and i was sitting in an Audi by the end of Feb.

    2006 Audi A3 8P 2.0TFSI, 59,000kms, GIAC stage 1, Leather.

Since then i have added the following (In as best order as i remember)
    • VF Engineering 2.5" Cold air intake
    • VW 2.0T OEM Upgraded Piston Diverter Valve
    • FSI 2.0T Fuel Pump Cam Follower
    • BSH Bulletproof PCV Revamp S1, later swapped out to a Stage II Competition Catch Can.
    • Bosch Iridium Spark Plugs - Set of Four
    • Red OEM Revision F Ignition Coil Packs - Set of Four
    • ECS Quick-Spool Underdrive Pulley Kit - Black
    • ECS Audi A3 Dogbone Mount Insert Kit
    • Ziza H7 Bulb Set, Purple White, 7000k Look
    • APR Upgraded High Pressure Fuel Pump
    • OEM 2010+ Facelift LED tail-lights
    • 18" VMR 710s in hyper silver Set of 4 (+2 more spares, slightly damaged) 18x8.5 ET +45
    • Nitto NT05 rubber Set of 4 225/40/18
    • FK Sport Plus Coilovers
    • Whiteline Anti Lift Kit
    • VF Engineering 3.0" Cold Air Intake (To replace 2.5")
    • GIAC retune - Extreme tune
    • 20% Octane tint all round
    • Brembo Gran Turismo Brake kit, 4 piston, 355x32 two piece slotted rotors. Endless RF-650 brake fluid

Most recent shots from DTi Dyno Day few weeks ago - still to put on the BBK

Definite next mods are full turboback exhaust, larger intercooler and boost gauge.
Mods that are to early to say - engine rebuild, transmission flash, K04 or larger turbo upgrade, larger injectors and LSD. Something im definitely open to, not 100% yet.
My only concern is reinforcing or upgrading the DSG/Clutch for larger power figures.

My dream mod would be a Full Oettinger body kit.

    Thanks for reading,
    Dekay

a bit frustrating on the last dyno day as the dyno was reading some ultra low power figures across all the cars that were there, (im talking about 20kws down for almost every car on the day) and the cars wernt even strapped down for 90% of the time which was very dangerous. It made a nice power curve, but only reported 141.0 .. when in reality its touching about 160.0atws. I'm yet to put it on a different dyno, ill post back when i do.

Im itching for a downpipe for some bigger power.

If anyone is following my car here, since the last time I checked on here I've added a new Eurojet 3" downpipe which has not only transformed the sound but the raw power in the car!

also some recent happy snaps showing off my 4p brembos,

Used the photo function on my Sony Handycam to produce these.
