Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • To buy or not to buy: 1968 Super 90???

    Hi.
I've been trying to decide whether or not to take the plunge and get an old classic Audi to restore.
The old bloke has many spares to go with it but i'm not sure if its going to turn into a nightmare car?
Anyone had any experience or got any thoughts on these?

Prefer the red 2 door myself, just can not talk the wife into buying it as a project car. Allot of comments on this web site about another one that was for sale in the USA a while back, "http://bringatrailer.com/2010/08/27/1972-audi-super-90/", could not even find one for sale on this UK site, "http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/view-classic-cars-for-sale.php/pageno/1/desc/1/searchtype/returning", thought the Audi’s 100s looked good and they probably share VW Passat parts. It boils down to how much you love the car and how much cash you have in case it goes bad. Should be able to buy parts for it from Europe, but can not guarantee that. Who knows, if it needs to be fixed it could cost you as much as a bus.

I'd love the 2-door, but he'll want $4k for it and wont sell it without the 90, and i dont have room for both cars...
Plus, the 75 is so nice and original that i couldnt bring myself to 'molest' it... even though it would just be suspension/wheels.
        Hmmmm

I'd be all over that 75. Still trying to work out a way that I can keep the S3 and get that car.
