Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Buying an A8, any tips or know issues?

    Hi,
    A friend is considering buying a low km (50-60K) A8, around 2005-2006 model.
    Are there any known issues with these, anything to stay away from or any 'must have' items?

    Any advise will be much appreciated.

    Extended warranty with a year or so left would be a must for me. Many of these cars probably haven't had an easy life and they'd be damn expensive to repair!

      I would have thought the opposite ? Being an A8 they would have had an easy life and would have been well serviced due to the nature of the owners..

        Thanx Guys, he has settled on a Benz.
