Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New A4 Wagon for the Loon Family

So as some of you know, the Mrs managed to crash our beloved A4TQ B5 Wagon.

I have a penchant for fast wagons as well as appreciating the usefulness of them with small children.

So with a bit of help from Shannons insurance, hoorah for agreed value, we just snapped up this bargain.

Snaffled it from Queensland and a big shout out to Beau for driving it down to NSW.

Its a 2L Turbo, Quattro Avant, 6 Speed Manual with everything.

It actually suffered a blocked oil pickup and so has just had a fully rebuilt engine, new turbo and lots of other bits. It was not even run in until it did the drive to Sydders.

First impressions were that it was not as nimble as the B5 and feels more bulky.

Slapped our wheels on, but will need some different bolts to make the change permanent.

Drove it home today and this thing is rapid when you get it angry. Some kid in a WRX who tried to cut me off was a little dissapointed in his car

It drives totally different to the B5 and is like a grown up version.

My favorite accessory is the fact that it has a tape player as well as a CD changer in the front. Damn I have a lot of old music on tape

    Pretty happy so far.

Nice one Matt, a little lower and a touch more poke on the rears and it will be quite pleasing to look at.

Hey Chris, Do you do the rear lower spoiler for the back of the wagon, but with cutouts for 4 exhausts??
