What is this? (A4 1.8T 2001)

Hi,

I am transplanting a 2001 B6 1.8T A4 engine into a mid-engined race car.

I have this float ball thing left over, that I don't know where it came from and what it is for.

Please help.

Its actually a vac reservoir, it stores vacuum and is used to work vac actuated items on shut down
